Just started: https://www.lddb.com/device/dvhsBut I was wondering what features would be interesting to add to differentiate/qualify players? So far I've seen D-Theater (with this post from substance) as well as DD and/or DTS out. Maybe Region as well? Are there more D-VHS-specific features? Were all D-VHS players also backward compatible with VHS and S-VHS? Julien

Turns out a player can be compatible with D-Theater yet not output Dolby Digital (ex: Victor/JVC HM-DH5500) or output Dolby Digital (from BS channels) without reading D-Theater tapes (like Victor/JVC HM-DH35000). I'll make DD it optional, just like DTS. Julien

US model players will not internally decode a tape with an AAC soundtrack, which is unfortunate as most BS source recorded tapes have an AAC audio stream. They will still play but a message indicating an outboard tuner is required to decode.

That would be a perfect reason to try to submit an update on this player I'm trying to move the relevant/interesting information away from isolated Forum posts to permanent/searchable data per player.
