Went back to a Goodwill to see if they still had a PS2 with the hard drive and Ethernet port so I could have a back up. An yway didn't have it :( but had this :D:D This has got to be one of the best buys I have ever gotten (though a Sony MXD-D3 beats it because that was only $1 :D)

One annoying thing it does not turn off unless the clock is set. It shows auto until the clock is set manually or automatic when hooked up to a cable and I think satellite box.

otherwise a nice solid machine. :)

I found a D-VHS deck at a flee market in Belgium for 20 EUR. Unfortunately it doesn't play D-Theater tapes.

weird problem I've tried switching the audio monitor and made sure its in HI-FI mode but I can't figure out why I can't hear normal VHS tapes but I can see them.
I've tried audio out as PCM or Dolby Digital. I can play Alien DVHS fine and play my Sega Saturn through Front line in so I know it can produce sound just not from VHS tapes like Armitage III episode 1 from Pioneer English Dubbed or tried playing Cold Sassy Tree as well.

any ideas? I decided to change to this one so I don't wear the other one out but I can always go back if I can't fix it. thanks for the help.
