Maybe the best quality Dtheater tape around

I always enjoy watching this title in 1080i coming from a tape.
It's a crystal clear transfer

Late response, but I enjoyed the video. I didn't realize D-Theater movies looked so crisp.

No 7.1 I am afraid. Soundtrack options are 2ch pcm(lossless) , dolby digital 5.1 (640kbps), and dts 5.1 (1.5mbps). Few tapes have all 3.

Playing I robot on the JVC dh5u fools my friends thinking they are watching a BR :shh:
Own a few dts titles and they're top notch btw.

Wow I'm hooked on that actual demonstration of it playing for the few limited titles released in its short few years?

So all the info as you mentioned is (ones and zeros).

I recall reading in magazine "What Video" I think on maybe the possibility of putting Dolby 5.1 onto VHS tape in the future, years ago around the time SR-D was released in 1992. Dtheater can only handle up to 5.1, not 7.1.

Picture was surprisingly good its a pity DVHS Dtheater never caught on.
All titles released on DVHS

Nice demonstration video, sir! I still own a HM-DH30000u and that particular iRobot edition is one hell of a tape for sure. You may want to keep your eyes open for some other excellent editions like Terminator 2 (my favorite edition of T2 when it comes to 5.1 remixes), X-Men 2 (awesome details, very crisp!) or The Day After Tomorrow...

True Lies dts is another great one to own
The Haunting is somewhat of a rarity when it comes to hd picture.... no BR release so far ?
Love Ice Age on this format. Great picture
One of my favorite tapes is The Ninth Gate. Like the atmosphere of this film. it's one of those movies...
dts coming from a home video tape format? Didn't see that one coming :o

Happy with my D-vhs collection today. sold a few I didn't want/need.

T2 isn't the best around picturewise IMHO but it sure is 8-) to own.

I'm pretty happy with the handful of D-Theater tapes I've managed to procure over the summer. I, Robot is definitely the best, but even Galaxy Quest (to a lesser extent) looks good.
