I got a D-VHS/D-Theater VCR (JVC HM-DH30000U) for a great price. Probably not going to get far too many D-Theater titles for it. Just want to mess around with it a bit, maybe make some HD-recordings if I can get a cable box with a firewire output.

Speaking of the firewire, has anyone tried to use a D-VHS deck for LD video capture? Since you can set a D-VHS firewire to both input and output, and firewire for video capture is ideal in most cases how well would one of these machines work as a go between?

It worked some with my mac then stopped and hasn't worked since. I have to use a component in capture device.

Decided to run the Runco LJR II through the DH30000U. Was pretty disappointed at the quality of the comb filter it has.

The 3D comb filter in my Panasonic Plasma is way better.
