Post subject:  I purchased a D-VHS tape on bay, received regular VHS:(

Hi,

I won an auction for D-theater D-VHS edition of Galaxy Quest. Today I recieved the item is a rental VHS copy with bunch of rental stickers, rips on it. I don't care for the condition of it but its clearly what was advertised. ITs NOT a D-VHS. VHS has no value. This seller has no return policy but its not the right item. ebay must have some protection for me. can someone tell me what to do?
I contacted seller and explained. I am waiting for a reply. but in case he says suck it up no returns. I want my money back.

You can open a case against a seller. I'm not 100% sure how to do it as I've only ever had to open cases against non payers but you should be able to get to it by clicking the drop down menu next to the item in the 'my ebay' section, you should see something in there.

There's no excuse for blatently mis-selling an item, I hope you get the problem resolved.

Item not described, paypal or ebay case, pick one. Do not pick both, only one. Go from there.

FIRST contact them, ebay or paypal frowns opon not doing this first.

it shows that you are trying if the seller dosn't respond then slam them with paypal.

i had the same trouble with a CD, it was the first issue not the remasterd import like listed.
i contacted said i wanted to keep it but didn't want to pay for the full value since it was not the import etc.
they gave me a partial refund which i was happy with.

so contact the seller first, also your feedback will stick it to them if you contact, if you don't contact your feedback may be removed by the BAY.

Had the same issue with DTS CD, receiving the regular CD. Problem is that eBay's CD/UPC database has mistakes. They are using a subcontractor for that and they won't fix the database even after several reports. Happened twice.

Technically the seller checked in the right UPC, he/she was advertising the wrong disc and sold "under the seller's responsibility".

Now I just ask for real pictures of the item before committing to buy.

They have contacted the seller, give them 48 hours or so and go from there!

ok seller refunded my money and i junked the vhs tape. I probably got the seller excited when i paid bluray money to vhs. Now the seller knows why. She had no clue there was an hd vhs format.

A similar thing happened to me. I bought the Indiana Jones making-of VHS for The Last Crusade from the Amazon marketplace. It was only $3, but I purchased a VHS... and they sent me a BetaMax! Now this was my first Betamax tape. There was a huge sticker on the front saying 'BETA' and the rear said "Beta Hi-Fi". I thought maybe the sticker was a mistake (due to the large VHS cover), but then I realized there was padding inside of the case to fit the beta tape. The seller refunded my money and I bought a used VHS copy on Amazon (this time it was actually a VHS!). But the BetaMax was sealed and had a cool 'CocaCola offer' sticker on the front, so I'll be keeping it. At least we both got our money back! :)

Same story here. Bought "X-Men" off ebay as a "buy it now" for $5. DVHS was marked everywhere. Of course, what I received was the VHS version in a beat up regular VHS box. The seller apparently knew nothing about a "digital" VHS, and she willingly refunded the money.
