signofzeta wrote: It’s just Firewire 400, right? Be sure you’re trying to use it the right way. It’s basically just an input/output system. You use it to capture or display DV but only in real time, or at least that’s how it was back in like 2003 when I last used it. It’s pretty much for getting DV tapes onto HDs for editing. I have tried the various options in FC Pro HD but I might try using FCE ( I might have it or I may have to get that and go lower like to Lion). Looking at the system report under firewire it was warning me that apple couldn't list it so I have various things to figure out. maybe even go back to the G5 if I can. Should know soon in a couple weeks when I go if I do have a copy of FCE and Lion but I'm not going stress over this its fun to tinker. Maybe I should buy a DV Deck itself and see what happens but can't at the moment.

drewmanfu0 wrote: You need the firewire sdk to use the VCR for ANYTHING on a Mac. I want to say version 24 was the one to have. Then you'll use one of the tools to open the stream. The output is not HDV, but it will convert HDV as an input. i never knew that. anyway I can't find anything you mention. would you please link to what you are talking about?
