Spun one of the red ones tonight. Interpreter (2004) [31105] and had some playback issues. The first 5 minutes or so, had several instances of stuttering that was repeatable. The meat of the movie played flawlessly but I got some more stuttering during the last bit of the credits. Overall, annoying but at least I got to watch the entire movie. This is a Universal disc so it doesn't match the patter of bad Warner pressings that others are reporting. |

I just got another copy of Deliverance in and tried to play it. Same thing. It won't even load. The disc looks clean. I tried both copies in my usb drive and they don't get mounted. I suspect this one is a bad run. I'd avoid Deliverance if I were you. I've only tried it on the XA2. Actually, I haven't tried the Xbox add on yet. Might give that a try this weekend, but I'm not optimistic. |

I haven't watched any of my HD-DVDs for at least 3 years but I remember Forbidden Planet did not play completely on my Integra DHS-8.8 which is a Toshiba HD-XA2 clone and LG BH200 which is a BD/HD-DVD combo player. I remember being able to watch the first 30-40mins only. |

Luckily, my HD-DVD copy of Deliverance, which I got when it was first released, still plays flawlessly, but I can't seem to get a good HD-DVD copy of The Aviator - my original copy played fine for years, then went bad last year and ever since I've tried to get one that's good, with no luck. So, I'm gonna go the BD route for that title just as I've had to do with Blade Runner since ALL its HD discs went bad on me. All my Universal and Paramount HD's and the imported UK HD discs of the 1976 King Kong and The Fog still play perfectly. BTW, I got the new BD release of The Fog and its amazing looking - Dean Cundy's new transfer of it is gorgeous, reflecting the real theatrical look and makes the HD-DVD version look pale and without detail. Plus, the new BD's mono soundtrack is the real mono theatrical mix like the Mag Vid LaserDisc release had and not just a mix down of the 5.1 mix, like Halloween has always suffered from. |

I have never had any issues with non-Warner HD DVD until last week. I was watching my German Casino HD DVD ( one of my all-time favourite movies !!!! ) last week and the disc simply stopped playing after the first half. It made me go crazy !!! as I really wanted to watch the movie. Anyhow I tested the disc in my PC HD DVD ROM drive ( Toshiba ) and played it using TotalMedia Theatre 3. This time to my surprise the disc would play without any issues. I am really happy I had a second drive to test it here. Still I am a bit disappointed the disc stopped playing on my HD DVD standalone but at least the PC will stay play it. The other Warner HD DVDs that stopped playing would not play in my PC internal HD DVD ROM drive, either. So it must be the standalone's fault. The other HD DVD I have watched recently is Spartacus ( Universal ) but that one played fine. I also ordered a couple of new HD DVDs for little money. I got the entire Planet Earth collection ( 5 discs ) for like 10 Euros used but in very good condition. I will also try to get those Polish HD DVD releases in the nearby future as this is my home country and they have some good releases not to be found in other countries. I wonder whether they are still working. |

Being a polish title I do spend some time figuring out what audiosettings I need |
