Just curious any serious HD-DVD Collectors here? The past 6 months or so I've been really hardcore with it, I'm trying to knock out all the rare stuff, before going to crazy into the rare stuff. I've made it a life goal to own them all... the adult titles not so sure, we'll see

Also, I ALWAYS have doubles from buying lots, would love to find a consistent trader.

Hello cefiro355,

Good to have you aboard :)

I have about 66 HD DVD titles and would like to purchase about another half a dozen at some stage.

The laserdisc format is the main topic on this site.

Please refrain from using sexest or any expletives as this site is not like others.
I have been on other av & Headphone sites where ''one myself'' was banned for being to polite. . . . .NO JOKE!

I shall hopefully look forward to corresponding with yourself at some stage.

Sincere & Respectful Regards

Who exactly made up that rule?
And where does it say so?

I have a lot, (not sure how many), but there are still a handful of titles that I'm looking for.

Same here. My friend gave me his player just a couple years ago. Hd-dvd's at Fry's were less than $5. Bought nearly all they had and then began picking them up used whenever I would find them. There's only about 3 or 4 titles I would still like to get a hold of though.

What is considered hard to get or rare? Besides the boxed set?

As usual, the last few released are considered vary rare. Twister & P.S. I Love You were the last two released with a few others that were ready to go before the plug got pulled. Bonnie & Clyde book was released just a few weeks earlier and is also considered very rare.

Hi,
I am collecting HD-DVDs because the price is so low in Germany. All the ~40 titles in burgudy cases I have found listed in the LDDB but now come across an 8K UHDTV DVD copy of "BARAKA". I wonder if I will ever have equipment that can display it. Can we have category 4K (2160p) and 8K (4320p) added to the category HD-DVD or somewhere, or this NON-LDDB stuff? I have two 4K discs too of perpetual "Fireplace" and "Aquarium". .... now to find a graphic-card and a monitor forthis. Anyone have ideas?
Regards
RRG

Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_high ... television
"...4K UHDTV (2160p) has a resolution of 3840 × 2160 (8.3 megapixels), 4 times the pixels of 1080p...."
" ... 8K UHDTV (4320p) has a resolution of 7680 × 4320 (33.2 megapixels), 16 times the pixels of current 1080p HDTV, which brings it closer the detail level of 15/70mm IMAX.[2][9][10] NHK advocates the 8K UHDTV format with 22.2 surround sound as Super Hi-Vision...."

you can count me in...

About 130 hddvd's now. I'm not sure if there is something left that I would purchase.
Depending on price I could buy a few more...
I've been stockpiling hd dvd players just like ld players for the last months.
I found myself a brand new hd-xa1 running firmwire 4.0.
purchased two hd-a1 players this month. They're the "cheaper" looking clones of the XA1.
I've been reading about hddvd players some while now before purchasing one. I feel safe to say the first gen. players are top quality built players.
Own a few hd-ep10's that do the job but they look so ... plastic
I've managed to find myself Mr & Mrs Smith, I am legend and Tomb Raider 1 & 2 . I know they're not great titles but sure they're great to own on hddvd.
It too bad one always stumbles upon the same titles... they offered 5 discs for free when you purchased a new player back in the day.
it's nice to buy hddvd's because they're cheap and easy to find even mint sealed.
My favorite discs are:
U-571
Sleepy Hollow
The Matrix
I Am Legend
Eastern Promises
End of Days
Ocean's box
The Ultimate Bourne collection

does anyone have hddvd's for sale?

I have the fancy Blade Runner Final Cut box, that's it, and no player. Would anyone be interested in that? I'd love to trade even up for the Bluray version.

Hi Kris, welcome to the fold :) I usually have loads of doubles to trade, but I just recently unloaded them all. If you keep in touch though, I usually buy lots to get certain titles I need.

My HD-DVD player came with some titles and I bought a small collection on ebay.
Now I have 28 titles and 23 for sale (doubles and titles i'm not interested in).
Once in a while i'll pick up one or two titles so i'm not really collecting.

Do you mean 4k and 8k prerecorded media? Or someone somehow made 4k and 8k copies of those videos and burned on hddvd?

There is no prerecorded 4k or 8k home media anything. All bluray and hddvd titles max out at 1080p24. You can not make any yourself either because max allowed resolution is 1080p24 by bluray specs and 1080p30 by hddvd specs. If you have 4k video you can burn on a bluray as data disc.

Baraka and those demo discs use marketing terms mastered in 4k or 8k. That means video was scaled down to 1080p24 from 8k original.
