Main website + Forum must move at the same time (auto-login and automated links based on topics status and/or subject - the databases must live next to each other).

Baby steps...

I managed to run a local copy of both LDDb and the forum with SSL/DNS pointing to my laptop.

And the automatic login from LDDb to the Forum works!
Now I must check that automatic forum account creation still works as well.

Then... there are very few remaining problems to solve before moving LDDb + Forum to the new server... after more than one year.

Went down a rabbit hole last night while tracking a simple bug that prevented shop names to have an apostrophe (this should work again now)...

It was a 20 year old but that prevented searching in shops (owned or global) to narrow down the categories to each search, and offering links and sort options that actually work!

Ex: https://www.lddb.com/shops.php?global=ALL&search=alien

Any ' would also have unpredictable effects on searching.

After the fix:

Back-porting the fix to the current code base would be too much work, it will be fixed (and faster) in the next upgrade.

Small victory tonight but LDDb.com is back to A+ grading with SSL Labs by configuring TLSv1.3.

All subdomains should be updated as well.

With horrible weather over Tokyo + no work scheduled this weekend, I will try to migrate/upgrade LDDb + Forum to the new server over Saturday/Sunday.

Expect some downtime and errors... wish me luck!

Today was just a dry-run, uploading LDDb's new code base to the new server.

Few bugs (probably more lurking) but was usable:

The Forum is always taking longer as it requires a complete upgrade from 3.0.14 to 3.3.17 and I rehearsed the full process again today -- last time was July last year.

Still looking good!

I might try to move make the big, final move tomorrow (Sunday) if there is no major blocking point!

And there was one... can't split domain between to servers/IPs for mail. Postfix does SNI but Courier does not in Debian 13.

Will have to wait for the complete move of all websites and domains in one shot, no partial moves :-(

That could happen end of October/early November.
