Connecting buyers and sellers without publishing online their Email addresses (to avoid SPAM bots) has been a long quest. I gave up writing my own internal message system. I suppose, as long as we keep LDDb and phpBB user base in sync, that phpBB Private Messaging will fill that longstanding gap!

I have been collecting and selling laserdiscs for years now and started my own forum in march 2011 and we now have quite a small but good bunch of members , since starting the forum I have learned some new things , been introduced to some excellent films and met some great people so I think this forum is a great idea and the more interest in the laserdisc format the better. I have long loved the lddb site and this is an excellent additional feature.

That's all we need...another Laserdisc forum! This will never do....No, wait...I got that wrong!

What a welcome site to see, a forum page opened up at lddb.com, possibly the most useful listing and information port open to Laserdisc collectors. This is great! I know that there are some 'legacy' threads running in the 'modern formats' forums but this different. This newest arrival means that there are now THREE dedicated Laserdisc forums opening up over the last twelve months, to service the needs of the LD collecting community.

That's pretty good going indeed for a format that has been 'dead' for well over ten years now! Well done to Julien for getting this up and going. I hope it's around for a very long time indeed. :clap: :clap: :clap:

There's still a lot to do. The most important right now (just finished coding it, it's 4am) was to keep accounts in sync between LDDb and phpBB all the time.

I just tested it and it works => if you modify anything in this list on LDDb, it will be updated on phpBB as well, your basic profile will follow you:

    username
    password
    email

Well I’ve been a member on the site, for number or years now and this is a brilliant addition to the site, so we international Laserdisc fans can comment on Laserdiscs and leave some good feedback or sometimes some negative feedback.

I have since started buying Laserdiscs off ebay and the odd one though this site to revitalize my Laserdisc collection making the mistake 11 years ago, selling off most of my Laserdisc collection having brought the same title on DVD. Never will I make that mistake again!

Bottom rule! Never sale your Laserdisc collection the pressing in some way is unique in colour balance, maybe the framing or the soundtrack mix! Some more recent DVD as well as Bluray have had some rather appalling re-mixing that sounds like junk with fake stereo surrounds and centre discrete having the “centre phantom” from left/right front dumped on it, thus the centre is no longer discrete.

Anyway, Admin, Julien I have one word to say. Genius Idea! :clap: Okay so that was two words then.
