It's been 3 years... time for a redux/sequel to It's time for a LDDb.com hardware+OS upgrade!

Current system is a Scaleway Pro-4-S that was initially cheap (2nd-hand) but increased in price over time (electricity bill, etc.).

CPU: Intel Xeon E3 1245v5
Memory: 32GB
Disks: 3 x 250GB SSD in RAID1

OS: Debian 10 "Buster" that is EOL since Jun 2022
Kernel: 5.8.14 (Oct 2020)

Now for roughly the same monthly costs, we could have a Pro-4-M as follows:

Image

CPU: Intel Xeon E3 1245v5 (same)
Memory: 64GB (doubled)
Disks: 3 x 500GB SSD in RAID1 (doubled)

OS: Debian 12 "Bookworm" that was just released on June 10th 2023
Kernel: 6.1.x (longterm) or the latest 6.4.x tree

This would ideally take place in August... will start preparing for this!!

Julien
