Dear all, January 31st 2013 will be my last day in Paris as from tomorrow I will relocate in Singapore (for the 2nd time, last time was end of 2009) for this project: S&P Capital IQ’s Real Time Acquisition, QuantHouse, Expands Coverage in Asia http://www.quanthouse.com/node/182 I will spend February at the hotel, looking for a new place to live, with spotty internet access and unpredictable daily spare time. The good news is that I will then get back a more stable environment with my Desktop PC for coding and... all my Laserdiscs. They've been in storage for the past 24 months. Can't wait to get my life back! Julien |

Good morning Julien, Thank you for the update, and I must admit that I couldn't travel as you have as, I need to know and have a fixed place to live. I changed homes a few times years ago and, this just did my head in. I admire you thou as I know how much (or have a good idea ) from the correspondence, we had when I was purchasing Laserdisc's from you a number of years ago. I hope you are well Julien and taking good care of yourself? I'd offer to run it on my server at no cost but I think my upload speed wouldn't be enough right now. My Uverse account is only 1MB upload, checking cable service in my area has 4MB upload option for what I'm paying now, somewhat better. lddb.com stats show around 1k+ hits/day so around 1-5 hits/minute average. 780/year for a dedicated server isn't bad though, a shared sever at Hostgator is around 10/month, dedicated servers there start out around 175/month, over twice what you're paying now. |

The good part is the 100Mbps unlimited upload/download. Not have to be scared of someone coming to teleport the whole website and cost me a fortune! Previous server was shared but the daily stats jobs and scripts were taking too long (up to 1min.). Switching to a full dedicated server cut this down to 5s. They just updated their offer and my current server type has now a similar offer but 25% less expensive. Finally settled down (with a few damaged OBIs and crushed boxsets...  ).Got internet installed, now updating desktops who haven't been out of a box for more than 2 years. Hoping to resume working on LDDb.com code base in the coming weeks! Julien |
