Dear all,

After quite many complaints about some topics of this forum quickly running into trolling/war territory or off-topic recurring comments not leading anywhere, some non-stop flow of insults/rambling, and the final email he sent me when I asked him to come back to his previous self, I decided to disable laserbite34 account.

This is quite sad because he joined us early, was one of the first to post on the forum, and provided quite many interesting movie reviews, soundtrack analysis and DOLBY equipment information over the first years. Since he was often on the forum, quickly catching up on threads going heavily off-topic (ironically), I even gave him the power to lock a topic and stop it before sliding even more into off-topic. This administration capability was later removed.

Things started to change, seemingly, when he had a mild heart attack in August 2014 (Small Heart attack.) that he described on the forum as well. I know he has been under medication since then and either the heart attack was not that mild, or the medication is having unexpected side effects. His vocabulary seems to have reduced to 3 words.

All in all, the information level and respect he was initially showing faded away and the "to the cat litter" became pretty much his only story-line.

Last round was to insult myself and the database in private.

I see very little reason to give further access to the forum, I don't see what good could come out of it.

Julien

I kind of suspected something like this might be the case. He had well over 2000 posts on the forum and you don't get to stick around long enough to make that many posts with that sort of behaviour, so he must've had some kind of an accident and/or disability to cause a drastic personality change.

Obviously I wasn't around back then, but I can only assume he must've been a valued member of the community at some point. And that's something I can feel sorry about. :(

Good day Julien,

Thank you for letting us know about this,

I know Andy quite well, as I have had a few long conversations over the phone in times past and a few months ago online.

I was at times direct on the phone and online in the Private messages.

I asked him not to use bad language and only because I care about him, and also advised that he eat well and to cook fresh, as he has a bad skin disorder that is very painful, we are after all what we eat, and should take good care.

Andy has many good qualities ''and I mean that very much'' His knowledge is inspiring ''to say the least'' and his depth of Video and Sound puts me to shame.

Andy used to be a Movie theatre projectionist & was very aware of sound and the time & Effort applied correctly with each movie ''some good and others not so''

I am saddened by this news and hope he is able to straighten things out, he is and I hope he continues to eat well and to take good care of himself.

He does have the support of well chosen and trusted Friends around him, and so I am confident that he will be in good hands.

Andy if you read this please Know that we care about you, and our sincerest hope is for your return to this forum when you are ready, and hopefully accepted back here by Julien Wilk who is a fair, reasonable and a Good Man.

Sincerest Regards

Very sad to hear.
I know that Laserbite did have the heart attack mini stroke.
Its sad to hear as like you have posted above about his information that he knew about home theater etc. but there was a lot of litter posts.

While I do feel that some of the new topics were a little our there, I also feel that a lot of the same topics from the newer crowd are very aggravating asking a lot
of the same questions over and over again.

There is no justification if LB went over the deep end but hopefully he will get back on track.

Laserbite34 was one of the originals on the forum and certainly brought a lot of knowledge and fun to the forum over the years.
The picture he posted of one particular seller in his 'laserdisc mansion' who had wronged him with something he had ordered will forever be burned in my memory - it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen posted here!

A break from the forum is likely no bad thing for anyone. Time for him to recharge his batteries and focus on his health.
I know I drift in and out of the forum at times because I'm a music guy so first and foremost my passion is music.
It just so happens I like music on the laserdisc format but I often feel I'm neglecting my core interest in music if I spend too much time here.

I'm quite sure he will be back in the future and I would welcome it.

I have nearly broken a rib laughing at laserbite34's creative ability to mock modern sound and cinema.

Whatever form of transgression he has delivered, I hope that we can find him to be an active contributor to the Forum once again.
He is a passionate limey, and quite possibly a type "A" personality.

All considered "every sinner has a future, every saint has a past"......

Bear up laserbit34, get your s**t together, take your licks, and get "back into the fight" ! ! ! :shifty:

As a relative newb I have found some really great info out of LB's posts, and I know it's too much for some but I think in the cat litter is a classic, I have to agree bring back laserbite!

Considering the circumstances, I doubt he's capable of that...

If the change in his behaviour is caused by his medication and/or the heart attack, that's not something you're gonna reverse in just a couple of days. He's gonna need help, professional help, and he's not going to find it here.

I'm honestly disturbed by people's willingness to enable what is obviously a problem, rather than help him try to overcome it.

I'm disturbed that so much of laserbites personal information is being posted here. Did he okay this?

He himself mentioned it on the forum over the years. This is public information.

Additionally van-dammage aka carlosthejackal aka thejackal aka theprowler aka cropsy aka joey-buttafuoco aka henrysilva aka henry-silva decided to withdraw completely after being temporarily disabled following forum rants (deleted since).

Current account (-----) was emptied and filled with bogus information.

I know I've been away from the forum for a while but I had no idea van-dammage had so many aliases, especialy over such a short period of time.

I only remember the first and the last!
