Hello everyone! Since it doesn't look like I'm going to find a new job as quickly as expected, it's time to spend some time on LDDb. Looking at having separate tables for:
AC3RF are player agnostic but remote controls need to be linked to their original unit and comments could testify which one is compatible with other players. The next step would be to link each Pioneer spare part to their related players, but that's a HUGE amount of work with a small amount of people knowledgeable enough to contribute significantly! As a start, what are the standard voltage ranges found on worldwide devices? I have:
Any other? Julien |

Can't wait for hardware database ! We have also to think about "strange machines", without real category, related to players, like LG-1 or DA-1. |

LG-1 could be considered a "Player" that has not LD capability but X inputs, Y outputs and LD-G capability. Same could work for AC3RF demodulators, a "Player" that has no LD capatility but X inputs, Y outputs and AC3RF internal demodulation. Same logic could apply for MUSE decoders. I'll need a separate table for remote controls though. Julien |

you're right, as lot of these "players" have there own remote control. only 2 category is perfect. Machine and remote. Then we can connect them together. What about video processors ? Does they have a place here ? Maybe it would be too large category for LDDB ? But it could also be useful for people who would like to have all technical information about upscalers and can easly compare them. |

Why not just put LG-1 and MUSE decoders all under "miscellaneous"? I doubt there's so many different ones out there that they'd warrant their own category. |

Also the thing about video processors is that unlike LD+G, MUSE and AC-3 decoders, video processors are still made at varying capacity, whereas the other three all pretty much went the way of the dodo with the LD format. There's no new models coming out that you'd also have to add to the database. Receivers/amps are a bit more of a gray area since they're technically still being made, but you could probably include ones with AC-3 support under that category. |

Julien No, but that's what I mean; you could make an exception for A/V amps with AC3RF support and include them under the same category as standalone AC3 demodulators, but that might make that list grow so much that you'll end up having to give it it's own category anyway. |

I guess I'm not the only one working on a H/W Database section! => https://www.gearogs.com/ https://www.gearogs.com/gear/50383-pioneer-cld-d515 https://www.gearogs.com/gear/67024-pioneer-cld-2950 https://www.gearogs.com/gear/67514-pioneer-cld-950 It's similar to what I've been working on...! Julien Yeah, while all these sites are great for information I hardly sell anything. I have a shop on discogs and haven't sold ANYTHING, have CDs that there are 20 wants and my price is HALF of what the other guy sells theirs for but still no dice. But I did end up selling more CDs on ebay by getting them listed, even at low prices. |

Julien Yeah, but LDDB design is far far better. And we need to think about a best way (more systemic ?) to take picture of player. |

Will update on the roadmap to add hardware support to LDDb. Let's list the steps even if only #1 has been cleared right now:

About: Import all Players/AC3RF demods/etc. (== devices) and make them searchable [DONE] You should have noticed the new search box. Obvious different color to make it stand out better than a blinking "NEW" icon! (oops... still showing "Title" instead of "Device") Attachment: Some predefined lists: https://www.lddb.com/list.php
