Just viewed (Seventh Seal, The: Special Edition: Criterion #10 (1957) [NTSC/ANA/CAV] [CC1110L])

To be honest, wished to view this classic Max Von Sydow epic for quite some time. Well last week the planets aligned and I sat down in the middle of the night and spun it up !
The movie captured me from the start. A Crusader returning home to find himself and his squire sleeping on a shoreline. Of course Death appears and a game of chess ensues.
(In truth, and sadly, I immediately conjured up visions of Bill & Ted II.)
What follows is an unexpected tale of country sojourn encountering several key characters destined to accompany the Knight and Squire ultimately back to his castle / home. Having departed ten years earlier, the wife welcomes the crusader back with a warm meal for him and his company.

This Janus / Voyager Criterion had the Pioneer special edition nod of approval. In CAV throughout and a track with commentary Essay by Peter Cowie.
Swedish with English subtitles, Black & White, and a few extras to step through, very pleased overall besides impressed with story and content.
Ingmar Bergman at his best in my opinion.

Only regret is that I waited so long to experience this wonderful yarn.
Max Von Sydow is hardly in his twenties ! (or so).

If one would enjoy a very thought provoking tale of middle age plague filled themes, check this Criterion release out !

Cheers to the members.

Salude !

Glad to hear, I own the CLV version and need to watch it again, I think I saw it as a really young child but don't remember, saw it years ago and have been meaning to watch it again, this will try to push me to watch soon.

Love the clips from Spooky. Just fun, no worries about using the wrong instrument to cause harm or insult, or wearing the wrong
baggy whatever to upset some group of people, playing music that was stolen from another group of people.
Just all around happiness and fun.

Superman IV. I can hardly find anything good to say about it. What was Cannon thinking.

I mean I guess if you get the expanded score outside of the movie Alexander Courage did a fine job. And the pieces Williams wrote are decent.

The Special Effects are truly awful, the transparency in the composites of Superman flying I don't believe was intended, but you can't unsee it in HD.

Hackman who I liked in Superman is awful as well. Not so hammy its good, he doesn't even try. And that guy from two and a half men is so ridiculously annoying you wish Superman sent him to space.
