Good morning dgtwoodward, What can I say but. . . . . . . WOW! ! That is some collection and good on you. I must admit that I would have loved to own all of Babylon 5 on laserdisc as I only watched the odd episode here and there. I think I really need to watch each episode from start to finish to fully appreciate the content. My hope is to eventually own all of Babylon 5, Enterprise, the next generation, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine, However the expense involved is the main factor, of which has put me off purchasing these up to now. I can only hope and shall continue to do so. . . . . . . .Some day You enjoy and well done on your purchase. Kind Regards

benmbe wrote: Good morning dgtwoodward.... Hi Ben, it's been a while my friend, how are you? Yes I am well on the way to owning all the B5 on LD...pity that WB didn't finish it but there you are. That is how Warners have always treated BABYLON 5 so it's noting new to me. I too would have loved to own all of TREK available on LD, but the problem there for me is not just the cost but the actual space involved in storage. They are lovely, but they are BIG! I had started buying ST:TNG on DVD a while back, but have put a 'hold' on that as the first of the complete-season Blurays are coming out later in the year. That was a choice made partly due to lack of storage space and because they seem to have really done a great deal of work to make it look good...like with the classic TREK (ARE YOU LISTENING WARNER BROTHERS????!!!!). I know that realistically, my collection is going to have to top-out at about 900-1000 at the absolute maximum, and then I am done, zero space. I spoke to bullrucke recently and he said that he had moved a short while ago and that he had to pack up and move 1400 ( ) LDs!!! Thanks to all who have replied too, It's nice to know that the show was appreciated, it got so little promotion at the time.

Good morning dgtwoodward, I totally understand the space limitations that you face, for this is something that cannot be ignored when collecting Laserdisc's. I hope that you are well and taking good care of yourself. It's tough out there, and I for one need to watch what I spend, where I drive, I now walk to work and save on average £100+ a month on my petrol fuel bills. I prepare my own food to eat at work, I do not purchase any food from the canteen and very very rarely have a vending snack. . . . I make sure not to have any cash on me at work in order not to waste money. . . . .It all adds up and it shows. When I moved into my first and newbuild home about 4yrs ago, I firstly looked at specific space designated for storing my Laserdisc collection. The majority of my collection are stored in a recess area in the hallway, between the living and bedroom doors, and the second area is in the cloakroom of which I still have room for another 100 laserdisc's. The next reserved of 27 titles will reduce this to around 73 however, I do have a little more space in the cloak room for another additional 45 to 50 Laserdisc's. . . . . So I still have time to expand a little more. I shall be posting pictures of my home & system for the first time in the coming month's, as within the last few weeks I received the 2nd out of three section's of my made to order equipment support stands. The 3rd section will be paid for by the end of May 2012. From the 30th April until the 4th of May I shall be installing speaker's fitting cables behind coving in the bedroom, painting & decorating with a feature wall with a picture, filling settling cracks, also painting and decorating the hallway and hopefully the cloak room. I have a trusted school friend who shall be helping out, as he has all of the tools. To be honest he loves to help out, as he knows how tough it's been for me to get this far, and also knows that I do things properly. I do not cut corners when doing anything. . . . I am thorough in all I do ''and rightly so'' Keep in touch Sincerest Regards to you

substance wrote: I picked up the complete set in super mint condition today. The same guy had Q:continuum, Worf-return to grace, The Borg Collective sets and a few criterions. I already started watching them. I have the dvd playing on my toshiba dvd player via HDMI 480i into DVDO and LD playing on my CLD-97 via s-video into DVDO. I switch between them. DVDs have more of the content due to widescreen aspect ratio. all of the scenes are very well staged so you dont miss anything in full screen. live action footage on dvd and ld are similar. dvd has slight more detail but LD has that analog film/ntsc look. DVD look like soap opera(this is a space soap opera actually). CGI scene hands down LD wins. not only you see more detail and they look more convincing, also none of the compression artifacts and cropping effects. Opening title scenes are in letterbox on LD. I dont remember if they were broadcasted that way on tv back in the day. Far as I can recall they where broadcast as 4:3 and according to imdb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0708785/ aspect ratio is 1.33:1. Are you looking at the image with purse on the laserdisc player if it supports digital freeze?
