Hello!

I had some information about the US releases initially but stripped them from the database because they were inconsistent.

Would it be useful to add them (with a cute logo)?

For USA => G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, M, X, unrated

For UK => U, PG, 12, 15, 18, R18

For HK => I, IIa, IIb, III

France used to have 13 and 18, now it seems to be 10, 12, 16, 18.

Don't know about Canada, other European countries, Australia...

Julien

Don't you mean HK? :P

But yeah I can see why consistency would be an issue. Isn't the 12 rating in the UK fairly recent too?

Don't forget the Japanese ratings board:

https://www.eirin.jp/english/008.html

I think adding the ratings would be a nice addition. Any data is good data!

That only kicked in 1998 and I think this is only for movie theater entrance, not for home video format?

... I was quoting the official website. But if you look for "Deep Throat", it is indeed RATING: X.

They decided to now show ALL ratings on the main page!

Given the age of Laserdisc and perhaps some titles not since reclassified, you could also add retired BBFC classifications too? A, AA, X etc?

Better just stick to the ratings actually provided on the covers of the disc, if any exist. There's no need to complicate things by throwing archaic ratings into the mix; Both X and M ratings in the US had been long out of use before LD even rolled out.

I'll just add them as I see them on covers, if one is missing after the first pass, just send me an update!

Also considering splitting main studio and publisher, it's confusing a lot of people!

Well, I remember seeing this in the theaters when I was 17 and it was rated "X"...

Flesh Gordon (1974) [ID7575ME]

The X-rating wasn't trademarked so it got abused a ton, primarily by p0rn studios. That's where the "XXX" comes from.

It's most likely the movie was actually unrated.

Question, "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride" was a direct-to-video movie, and since it was released on LD only in Japan, should I list the rating as "(USA) Not rated"? It's a family-friendly direct-to-video movie, I mean.

The rating would apply to the country of release, in that case, it's better to leave it empty => Rating "None".

For Germany we should use the old logos. Not a single LaserDisc has the new ones.

http://www.stefano-picco.de/gfx/grafik- ... -logos.jpg

The rating is
0 - 6 - 12
16 - 18 - 18

The last one is if the FSK did not approve the movie at all.
SPIO/JK also often has the addition "strafrechtlich unbedenklich". A rough translation would be "no objections under criminal law"

That's the kind of local info I need, thanks!

Will update the logos soon.
