The color timing for Star Wars: A New Hope: Special Edition Laserdisc is sourced from a Technicolor print, so, unlike the DVD/Blu-ray’s, the colors that you see for the Theatrical footage are basically how they’re supposed to look. Between the US and Japan Laserdisc, the transfer for the Japan LDs looks more similar to the Technicolor print.

Looking at these releases here, it’s most likely that the transfer for the LD’s released in 1997 are both identical, but for the 2000 re-release here, is the transfer also identical or somewhat different?

I was able to confirm that the transfer for the 1997 and 2000 releases are identically the same.

Yes the reissue of the Special Edition which goes for way more money than the 1997 has nothing new except the Episode II featurette which other than the newer cover art and distinct OBI isn't worth the 100-150 dollars people ask for it.
