Was this title really going for $5-$15 pre pandemic? I’d like to get this edition but one seller on eBay the guy is asking $100. I see a few international sellers here asking for $30-$40.

I know prices have sky-rocketed because everything retro is in now but out of all the LD prices this seems like the one that is most outrageous jump. Unless I’m reading the past sale figures wrong.

Is this a rare title by what you’ve seen. I’m fairly new as you can see so my judgment on what’s rare and what’s not doesn’t hold value.

Thanks

Never sold for more than $20 on LDDb => https://www.lddb.com/past/8016/

2 offers at $25~30 now, why buy it $100 on eBay?

Jurassic Park DTS $30 Max
Jurassic Park AC3 $10 Max

In the Craigslist days, you were guaranteed to find a copy of JP AC3 in any lot you pick up for next to free. I don’t think the discs are getting rarer but the sellers who are willing to pack and ship these are becoming scarce. I don’t blame them. A cup of coffee at the drive through is near $5. A cold sandwich at the gas station is almost $10. Calories you burn to pack the discs and move your rear end to the post office cost more than the $3 you net on the common title.

I did see those two for sale but being international I'm assuming the shipping will be more then the disc. Still a better deal then the ebay seller.

A 900% jump in asking price is bonkers. I see your point in listing a $3 common title will net you very little after all said and done, but the possibility of making a $40-$50 return on a common disc you'd think would bring sellers to the front.

Boggles my mind.

How long have you been waiting for one to show up for a reasonable price? We would make memes about the rarity of Jurassic Park a few years ago.

The Dolby Surround versions are very common.

The DTS version was $10 for many, many years before picking up steam and going $30~100.

The AC3 was released as an afterthought (Spielberg being a supporter of DTS) as the AC3 market was bigger than the DTS market on LD.
Most early 5.1ch A/V amps were DD first, DTS much later or for a killing premium price at the onset.

I would think they were less AC3 discs pressed than DTS.

The DTS one has the LFE levels way too high, so I would prefer the AC3 version anyway.
