I've been wanting to find the Technidisc pressed Fox Widescreen LD of Star Wars for some time as it has a really different look and color timing. (Have checked every copy come across.) After revisiting the SE LDs, I'd really like to find one but I'm not sure how to go about obtaining a specific disc based on who produced it. They also did runs of ESB and ROTJ but I have no idea what those look like and if they have the shrinking ratio problem fixed.

Has anybody viewed or come across any of these? I know at least the first film was done quietly to replace the original discs which featured a truly weird problem: as the film went on, the ratio began to shrink bit by bit as the side wore on. I've wondered if ESB and ROTJ were fixed as well, but these were issued just before the Definitive Collection, so little is really known about them.

The aspect ratio was changed during the film to cover up problems with the widescreen transfer and rather than fix it by doing a new transfer, Fox just matted over the offending area. Truly half assed, especially for the price charged. And then there is the original pan and scan transfer of ROTJ that was unsqueezed too much from its animorphic negative, making everyone look squished or like they have the mumps.

i had 2 different issues of the widescreen, they both had the shrinking ratio.

but you only notice it if you mark your set and watch for it, i think it goes up about 1/4 from the bottom.
not a good thing but it's not like you are losing 1/2 the image.

The original widescreen editions of all three Star Wars films for the US were first pressed by Pioneer. They were later pressed by Mitsubishi and then again later by Technidisc. They all look like the same transfer.

The Pioneer and Mitsubishi ones are the same, but when Technidisc pressed the third and final version just before the Definitive Collection it actually utilized a different print source. From screencaps and samples I've seen the color is brilliantly saturated and has no motion smearing whatsoever. The only downside is that the image is pretty cropped on all sides, but not too badly.
