Sounds like serious triple dipping addition to me. Disney do this all the time with a must new digital transfer supervised by George Lucas. What's the Dolby AC-3 like on CLV version?

I have the CAV Widescreen Edition LD and the CLV Academy Ratio LD. The AC-3 mix is the same on those two.

It is a slightly different mix from the Platinum Edition DVD (haven't really thought about getting the Diamond Edition Blu-ray.) But since the soundtrack isn't all that aggressive, you really have to crank it up to hear the differences.

There's an old thread on dvdizzy that has screenshots that are, I think, more indicative of the academy ratio work done:

http://www.dvdizzy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... bda7461061

It went beyond just an open matte transfer; they actually re-composited some of the scenes. Check out the one of the angry dogs approaching.

thanks for that post, it really shows that it was a different shot film.
and i saw that one a few days ago on ebay, wanted to buy it since it's harder to find, and 7 bucks is a steal for someone who needs it.

If these shots are correct, for sure, then it should be easy to check any LD for framing using this same frame in the movie.

It seems that Lady and the Tramp (1955) [582 CS] is indeed a P&S version of a scope print. Its also even more zoomed in than the DVD.

well i could have told you that, i have the original tape and it's the same.

It took me quite a while to get the remastered P&S laserdisc but I finally found one while the widescreen were easy to find.

there are 2 versions of the film, if you bought a remastered version and it's full frame it is NOT pan and scan.

there were 2 releases of the film back in 1955.
1- acdemy ratio 1.33 not pan and scan
2- widescreen 2.35

there are as we know 3 releases on home video/laserdisc.
1- pan and scan
2- remastered 2.35 widescreen
3- remastered acdemy ratio 1.33 not pan and scan.

i don't know if all older releases are pan and scan or not??
but remastered versions are not pan and scan.

OK Got to revive this dead topic.

While I have no pics I did own a copy and can confirm 100% that this release is pan and scan from the widescreen.
Lady and the Tramp (1955) [582 CS]
and since this is a CAV release I'm certain that the CLV release is the same.
Lady and the Tramp (1955) [582 AS]

Now these two releases I have no idea what they actually are, I've searched ebay for them but can't find any, even did a very very quick google search but no luck.
Lady and the Tramp (1955) [22220 AS]
Lady and the Tramp (1955) [22219 AS]
So I have no idea as to what these really are, or if they are a mistake insert???

This is the only version on USA LD that I know of that is the correct 1.33 academy ratio of the film, so if you need this in your collection which you should
then get it.

Yes, there is only one, the AC-3 one. If you have the other 4:3 ones you have garbage, basically. I have a copy, it’s great. If you used a 4:3 CRT this is for sure the version you want.

You know what? Unlike most other versions, the academy ratio LD is the rarest in my opinion! And I missed my chance to win that auction on eBay just now.
