churnopol: It costs more to make a movie than to make a music album, that makes alot sense for the previews (even if I can understand if you get irritated by it).

One thing that I hate about Dvd's is when they're in Pan&Scan mode when you have the player set to 4:3 mode. No matter what settings you do with the player, as long as you have selected 4:3 (either P&S or Lbx), some movies are played in Pan&Scan. Once you set the player to 16:9, you get the whole picture but it stretches it all out since I use a 4:3 TV. This is a problem with Dvd's from Atlantic, a Swedish company releasing classics and rarites with rather cheap transfers. I remember when I got their edition of Papillon last christmas and it was in Pan&Scan when I tried to watch it on my TV. I contacted the company and they said that all of their Dvd-editions uses Pan&Scan and since no one has complained about it they don't see it as an issue. Other examples of Dvd's I own from them that are in P&S once shown on a 4:3 would be La Dolce Vita and I Saw The Devil.

If the movie is shown in P&S once you've selected it, that's fine to me as long as I can change the settings and watch the movie in it's original aspect ratio (my copies of American History X and Manhattan has those features). But what they're doing, forcing the movies to be shown in P&S just because I have an old TV frustrates me. I've bought around 750 movies in less than three years and this is what I get?

The loudness war

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war

I'd like to get a turntable preferably a Technics 1210 mkII I heard they're built like a brick s house. and would like a solid state turntable to play some of my small LP collection. Dynamics no doubt would be nicer over the CD least until before it had excessive compression and boasting of levels
that makes you play it lesser level. Why I thought it was digital so no need for noise reduction its not tape!

I guess all my CD I own from 90's and 2000's all have it sigh.

Here is good video I watched two weeks ago its in several parts and there are more videos made by Bob Katz.

Bob Katz about the "loudness war" part 1

In the video above Bob mentioned another talk taking place in another room so I looked around and find this.

Best reason why to spin vinyl. Brought music back for me 100%. I use a Technics SL-1200mk2 and they are indeed built like a tank. Some audiophiles turn their nose up at it a bit, but they didn't change anything for over 30 years on these babys.

My dad had a Technics turntable years ago but ended up selling the hi-fi system to a student from Thailand in the household as my dad and stepmom was hosting students and I didn't even get first refusal of it. :wtf: Not sure of model number but my easiest guess would be it was late 1970's model as my dad bought the hi-fi separates around early 80's.

It had variable pitch it was silver it had plastic cover to lower over it to keep dust off it it had little glass thingy that had an orange light being beamed up so can see the pattens on the side of the turntable. I'm looking though Google to see if I can find a close match mind you last time I saw it was in students room 1985.

I'm sure it didn't have slider for the pitch control it was rotary.

Its not what I can see pictured in the link how many models did Technics make it was proper model must have cost new nearly £300.00 or less? That's my guess mind you.

I don't know it might have had slider its 27 years ago and about 31/32 years ago since my dad bought it.

 Its kinder close to this the glass thiny with light was on right side but something about that is not quiet the same I saw I guess the youtuber video is model of the 70's but how many models did they produce then again it could have been and 1980 or 81 model?
