Screamers(1996) was released in 1.33:1 on LD and DVD in the US. It was released in 1.85:1 in UK/DE/JPN on LD and DVD. Some claim the US release is open-matte. I don't have it in widescreen edition so I can't compare it.

Looks like the only widescreen LD is 1.66 from Germany, there's a Japan release but it doesn't indicate which. I need to get this movie, I might go for a R2 DVD. I'll add it next.

Uk is widescreen too. At least on the back cover it says widescreen.
Ghost in the shell is 1.85:1 in the data base but i think its more like 1.66:1. Dvd/bd etc are 1:85.1

Looks like there's several releases in 1.85 on the lddb.com database, US and Japan that are in the original 1.85. 1.66 for Europe which would be slightly cropped on the sides.

Well I added this one but then I removed it. Original was 1.85 in 35mm. The 1.33 version is likely open matte of the 35mm frame, a taller picture with cropping on sides. Since it has a Japan LD release which is probably 1.85, and a R2 DVD there's more than one format to find it. But hard to find.

I just read some info on this one, wow they actually filmed it in two different formats. It's not on Blu-ray but there are several releases on DVD including 1.33, 1.77, 2.35 and 2.55. 2.35 and 2.55 are both cinemascope. The 1.77 is a transfer from the 2.55, and there doesn't appear to be a 1.85 from the original version of the non-widescreen 1.85. There's another LD release that uses the 2.55 cinemascope. So from what I can tell it makes the list because there isn't a DVD format with the original 1.85 non-cinemascope version. I'm just wondering, in the comments on that 1.85 LD it says disc two is 1.85. Is the rest 2.55? I don't know if it would count if they only used part of the non-cinemascope.

Yes, both versions of the movie, the 1.85:1 shoot, and the 2.55:1 CinemaScope shoot are included in the LD release quoted. They are on two discs. One disc is the 1.85:1 version and the other is the CinemaScope.

Entire versions of the film? That's why it's rare, wow. If you've got that one, from what I've seen there isn't another 1.85 version available other than the '99 LD.

Remembered another one (probably reminded by Howard Keel starring in this one as well):

Day of the Triffids (1962)

Apparently, the 2.35:1 releases on DVD are not uncut with a running time of 93 mins. The uncut 95 min versions are in 1.33:1 on DVD.

The Laserdisc is the uncut 95 min version in 2.35:1.
