I love both but I'd take Vertigo over Kane any day because I find it more engaging. Don't get me wrong, Kane is an excellent film but I see it as more of a drama than a deep mystery like Vertigo.

I've never liked Vertigo, and the first time I saw Citizen Kane I thought it was a boring and overrated film. However, I rewatched it this summer and it was excellent! Fabulous and fascinating depiction of a journal tycoon. Not the best movie ever made, but certainly one of the most memorable.

Citizen kane was unique in many ways back when released first. One of the first films to tell the story backwards. Starts with kane's death and goes all the way to kane' childhood. Movie goers were pretty impressed and suprised with the style. Now none of that is special because we see films inspired by it all the time,most times not knowing films we see owe a lot to citizen kane or many other great films from past.
When I first saw citizen kane I was in high school. I liked it but didnt understand why it would be the best film. After some reading and watching it again,now I understand.

Vertigo is of course just as good.

Neither of those lists have Casablanca or Gone With the Wind, thus they are null and void.

Age with grace not under the cosmetic surgeons knife. Yeah sure I'm conscious but if I was really worried I would have had it done 20 years ago to remain youthful.
