Oh, lovely! Thanks for that! I remember when I introduced my son (at age 9) to Buster Keaton, and can totally relate to the author's description of those boys moving from indifference to immersion. Though I started him with Cops and One Week - The General, Steamboat Bill Jr., and Sherlock Jr. came later. Ooh, I think I must go watch some Keaton now...

I have the Buster Keaton "The Railrodder" laserdisc. It's a great one to watch, and side 2 shows how they made it. Not an expensive one either.
