elahrairrah wrote: Just thought of another one. It's not exactly rare, but I never see it up for sale . . . Sleeping Beauty CAV . . . sure it's pan & scan (HEAVILY as it was a CinemaScope film), but I remember reading how upon the re-release of the title on LD in WS, that the colors are vastly different (as Disney is want to do--retouching colors during a remaster) from the inital release and the original film. So I want to see just how different. Unfortunately, I never see this CAV release come up for sale. The CLV release does, but not the CAV. I don't mean to nitpick but just to clarify Sleeping Beauty was a Super Technirama 70 film. Super Technirama 70 was 35mm horizontal 8-perf wide VistaVision negative with an anamorphic taking lens giving an aspect ratio of 2.55:1 and then the horizontal anamorphic negative was printed onto 70mm film. The "super" in the Technirama name means its printed to 70mm. Technirama and SuperTechnirama 70 were invented by Technicolor who wanted their own high quality film process that gave superior results to CinemaScope and was wider than VistaVision. The Super 70 version came about as a competitor to Todd A-O and Ultra and Super Panavision. Jist before its original theatrical release, Sleeping Beauty had clips shown letterboxed on Disney's show with 3-track stereo sound - the left channel was on an AM station, the center came from the TV broadcast and the right channel came from an FM station. The Blu-ray has the original film of Disney introducing the letterboxed clips and explaining how to set up your radios to hear the 3 track discrete stereo sound. It was pretty amazing for the time. |

But that Lupin disc you pointed to is different from the one I listed in cover art. The specific disc I listed has the English dub prepared for the US release, hence why I'd hunt it down |

No problem at all. I love hearing more technical aspects of the original films! |

Haunted in widescreen, either HK or Japan. Maybe some of you who've been collecting longer would have a better idea of the trend. I have yet to see one, but my time in is pretty short. |
