What year did the 'old' Pioneer logo become the 'new' Pioneer logo? Because a couple of Laserdisc players last manufactured in 2009 also have the 'new' Pioneer logo.

Not only LD players manufactured in 2009 carry the new Pioneer logo.
I cannot tell the year exactly, but it might have already started in 1999 or 2000 that they put the new logo onto HLD-X9's and maybe some other players that were still in production back then. Possibly around the time when they changed the shipping boxes from white to brown:

An oddity however is that even the newer (X9) players have the old Pioneer logo on all manuals and the remote!
This probably has to do with the fact that they still had enough remotes and manuals in storage and never needed to produce new ones.

My A/V Receiver has a manufacture date of September 1998 and used to have the new pioneer logo until I replaced it with a old logo off of a junked PD series CD player

No matter how much I love Laserdiscs I would have tremendous spending a lot of money on a single title.
Since I love the movie The Beach very much, I would really love to get this movie on LD as I think the LD
cover looks fabulous. I think also considering the price ( 250 US $ ) I would put it in a special place.
That movie really reminds of the time I went to Thailand with my ex. It really captures the whole atmosphere
extremely well. Wow.

I would also like to get the Cliffhanger Squeeze LD as I would like to own an anamorphic title and this movie is still
missing in my collection.

However in general I would rather spend 100 Euro on let's say 10-20 good LD titles instead of spending a bunch of money
on a single title. There are few exceptions though but I think just because a title is sold for as little as 4 bucks and just
because everybody else owns it doesn't mean it less appealing as a new title to be added to my personal collection.

My next aim is to generally buy Criterion LDs only as I would like to own all Criterion released LDs one day.

Oh, I just forgot. There is one specific LD title I would love to own: The Korean Samsung LD demo disc.
I know it might sound crazy but I actually love those demo discs. This title I would really like to own as I have
never owned a Korean disc in my life.
If anyone on this forum has this demo disc please contact me. I am sure we can come to an agreement.

I have been trying to track down a copy of Black Christmas (1974) [11590] for the past 3 years. I get outbid whenever it comes up on ebay, which is really rare these days. It is never up for sale here on LDDB either.

The Hong Kong letterboxed uncut version of The Program Program, The (1993) (Uncut) [TL-1343]. In ten years of collecting I have never seen this for sale anywhere.

Harbor Light Story: Fashion [LSP-1113] - I'm pretty sure that the fill title is "Harbor Light Story: Fashion Lala" but I'm honestly not entirely sure it was even released on LD!

This was an OVA from the 1980s by Studio Pierrot who were pretty famous for their magical girl shows. This one however is COMPLETELY INSANE to judge from this review. According to the article's author, it was only released on VHS. But maybe he's wrong? I'd definitely love to have this in my collection, but I'm not even sure if it's real or not...
It was also remade in the 1990s as "Fancy Lala" which is a really cute and sweet kids show. I want to know the origin!

There's also this super-obscure version of The Little Mermaid as an anime from the 1970s: Anderusen Dowa Ningyo Hime (Little Mermaid) [LSTD01309]
When I was a kid, I watched an edited/dubbed version and the downer-ending (same as the original story) really had an impact on me. There was an American DVD of it that came out a few years ago, but it was the same cut-up English version; it was so ugly I think it was mastered from a VHS. But I'm seriously curious what the original version is like... MAYBE SOMEDAY it will turn up for sale, but I haven't found a copy yet.

Time to get myself a region 2-compatible player and GET MY HANDS ON A COPY OF THAT!
(Although of course I'd still jump on an LD copy if I ever came upon it. :P)

Though probably I should have watched at the time of the theater screening,
I do not remember this anime at all.
The reputation of this dvd is excellent.
