Firstly I matched levels on the SPL db metre to see how much range loss there was on the compressed Dolby digital over the PCM and analouge sound, on the Laserdisc.

The Snap sound of the Staff stick in half so it would be useless to the Belloq.

The Laserdisc no matter how many times I have tested the playback on the digital PCM and the analouge which is a few db higher by a small +2db over the region 2 DVD Dolby 5.1 that was matched at same level only sounded increadbly weak, more like twig be snapped. I can really hear it compressed to death.

The Laserdisc wins with the SNAP!

Maybe I'll buy the bluray now that prices have dropped on the box set.

The snapping of the staff really lacks the SNAP on region 2 DVD.

The Blu-Ray sounds incredible even on my puny 5.1 set-up.

Nope I do not, but I do know that the sound got a complete restoration (as did the picture at 4K), so it looks and sounds amazing as judged by the reviews which are all positive. It would be a massive update over the Laserdisc and DVD in any case. It has perfect panning, clarity, balance, bass and effective aggressive use of the surrounds - just a very active well spread sound stage overall.

And what of the Nazis, being rammed of the side of cliff is it the original cinema release and not just another Lucas, OTT CGI as that is one issue that bothers me.

Nope don't worry its the orignal version with the miniatures and matte painting, no CGI enhancements to be found in the Blu-Ray at all. Its as respectful and faithful as it can be, which you will notice with the much warmer colours that looks very organic and natural, like a perfectly projected analog 35mm print. The DVDs were way too cool and blue, they are incorrect.
