Well.....looking at the jacket it does state 90 mins.....and it is the american release,so it really must have 3 mins of footage missing, but does the original have any logos at the beginning of the film....because it got me thinking, are the running times stated on the back of laserdiscs, the running time of the disc,or just the movie minus logos and trailers.....I know there is a small time difference between PAL and NTSC,that is just tho the difference in the way it is played back at different framerates, and does not mean NTSC are longer in length, although alot of the time PAL is cut for UK release,we english must get easily offended or something....pussies....lol....there are 9 chapter stops on side one and 10 on side two....It also states something on the back Ive never noticed before and quite strange....it says "WIDESCREEN FILM TRANSFER FOR LASERDISC IN ORIGINAL 1.85:1 ASPECT RATION BY LARRY YORE AT ADVANCED DIGITAL. SUPERVISED BY MATT FRIEDMAN.SPECIAL THANKS TO BARBARA GUTHERIDGE".......wierd.....but looking at your screen shots it is hard to check the quality as the shots themselves are not a straight capture.....but netherless, looking at them, the difference isnt that great.....her dress isnt as dark tho on my copy, but that could be my settings/your settings......after seeing the high definition transfer of this movie, the laserdisc wins easily, the laserdisc is full of more colour that doesnt look like it has any DNR applied to it whereas the recent masters have their faces look almost shiny and smudgy....plus there is more noticeable grain and spots on the recent versions,I never remember seeing anything like that in this copy,Ive taken a few shots, not alot of them were in focus, and your right it looks a bit sharper on the tele than in the photos....I cant upload tho for some reason,I try and attach the pics but it says they are invalid.....do they have requirements for attaching pics..?.

Thanks for that, I just hope that the 3 minutes cut from the remastered widescreen laserdisc are not too important. Anyway yes, my screenshots aren't much of a help, but is the widescreen Laserdisc version been cleaned up of the print damage that my old pan and scan version has? Because as you can see in picture 1, there is a lot of scratches/grain/video noise/black specs etc on the old pan and scan version I have. Just upload the pictures to a hosting website like I did. Simply use http://postimage.org/

I've been a bit busy but thank you so much for the effort you put in taking the pictures, they look great. As for the woman in the pub, I'll have to check again when I get some time, but I think its all the same colour but I'll have to confirm that. If it is then I'm guessing its the actual transfer quality from the old pan and scan version and/or my TV settings, I have a feeling its a bit of both.
I love the range of colour in that remasterd widescreen LD and the black levels look good, its also pleasing to hear that the remastered widescreen version had been cleaned up of print damage which my old pan and scan version is full of.
Would I be able to see some screenshots of Saving Private Ryan & Starship Troopers when you have some time? I've heard both are stunning transfers on LD but have never seen any screenshots of them.
Also as a side note: I notice you have the PAL Jumanji: Special Edition in your collection, I do too and I've noticed not a lot of people do. Its a superb pressing with great PQ, nice special features, a classy gatefold with awesome art work and its ROT FREE.

Its mad that you mentioned Jumanji,me and my two children watched it this morning and they loved it.!.....it does have a good transfer, alot more stable with the PQ than say JAWS,the signature Collection, sometimes it has a few shots that look faded and/or washed out in colour, not to mention the jaggies.......But then it is a CLV...Im glad they released Jumanji as a CAV,I much prefer the CAV versions,Im also glad that my player will flip the disc automatically....Ive never watched the Saving Private Ryan on laserdisc, like so many I buy them but dont watch them straight away,Ive never seen the Starship Troopers film either, but Ill throw them in later and take a few pics......Just out of curiosity, what 11 films do you have?,it wont let me view your list.....x

I havent had any flipping issues thank god. Mine is the Pioneer 2950..maybe its a sign of wear and tear...?...Could you please upload pics of the star wars film,I have that one and just want to compare the picture quality from different players and tvs....I know that disc has a darker than should look, here are the pics from Saving Private Ryan ...... Saving Private Ryan,a bit difficult to capture images as there is very little that is still in the film, due to the nature of the way it was shot,so some pics are blurry and not as sharp as they are on the tv. Also because of the high contrast look which spielberg used,it looks about half as better Ive noticed on tv,its also darker on my tv than in the pictures,I havent retouched the images at all......nice colours when there is colour in the image and the picture is nice and sharp with no picture noise,it looks softer in the pics tho........ http://s5.postimg.org/7tger8h93/SAM_5352.jpghttp://s5.postimg.org/829e3f4nr/SAM_5353.jpghttp://s5.postimg.org/ievophy6v/SAM_5355.jpghttp://s5.postimg.org/us8iwenvb/SAM_5356.jpgIll do Starship Troopers another day.....x

Thanks again, I can understand that it was a bit of a difficult task with Saving Private Ryan. I should mention that I was watching Star Wars Episode 1 last week and if I knew earlier I could have taken the pictures for you then. Anyway, regardless, I will get around to it, its just that with being busy and with my fragile Laserdisc player seeing a lot of use lately I've decided to give it a bit of a break because you can never be too careful with older electronics you know...? Try either one of these 2 alternative websites for uploading the pics if you like.. http://tinypic.com/http://imageshack.us/ (although for this one you'll need to register a account but its pretty quick and easy overall.)
