This is actually a two parter (although the answer could be the same for both ) - what is your favorite Roger Corman film and what is your favorite Roger Corman film available on laser?

Let's stick to films he directed (either credited or not) and not go for films he produced since there were so many of those.

1. A nifty little low budget affair (it was shot in a vacant grocery store) called "The Undead" (1957). Well scripted and generally atmospheric it also had a lot of black humor in it. It had an interesting cast with a lot of good B actors - Billy Barty, Allison Hayes, Pamela Duncan, Mel Welles, Richard Devon, Richard Garland and Dick Miller. Had a neat twist ending too.

2. "The Masque of the Red Death" (1964) - Corman had a budget to work with here and it shows. Lush color photography wrapped around a Poe story (of the same title) combined with a sub plot from another Poe story - "Hop Frog". Had a really good cast - Vincent Price, Hazel Court, Patrick Magee, Nigel Green, and Jane Asher among others. Still holds up extremely well to viewing today.

If you like Corman's stuff at all, this is pretty good book - gives a brief bit about each of his films:

If you don't like Corman's stuff I will forgive you and pray for your soul.

Some sources (including IMDB) list him as an uncredited director of "Battle Beyond the Stars".

That is right up there on my list of favorites of his. I find it kind of interesting that he was by many accused of ripping off "Star Wars" with this film. While he definitely was cashing in on the success of Star Wars, if he ripped anything off it was "the Magnificent Seven" (which had ripped off the "Seven Samurai".

Comon guys .......

Death Race 2000 !
A film before its time .....

Will never forget Machinegun Joe Viterbo unloading that Thompson into the crowd cheering for Frankenstein at the start of the "race"........
I knew at that moment this was a film for me !!!!

Could only dream of that title being on LD.......

Gotta go with "too numerous to list" on the second point of topic.
All work by Corman is good to have on LaserDisc.......

Nice thread bifrost bear ......Thanks
