Does anybody know if there were any Lady and the Tramp LDs released in which the shotgun sound WASN'T censored?
If you know the picture there's a kennel scene where a dog is taken out the back and executed off screen. As the shotgun blasts all the dogs react in horror. Well, in every video version I've seen that sound effect has been removed and the scene is very different.
The theatrical restored, re-release of Lady and the Tramp in the mid '90s had that gunshot in, but it was removed for subsequent re-releases.
I've checked these discs (below) but they've all had the gunshot edited out.

15344 AS Lady and the Tramp
582 CS Lady and the Tramp
PILA-1040 Lady and the Tramp
PILA-3012 Lady and the Tramp
14673 CS Lady and the Tramp: Collector's Edition

It's not that I want to hear the poor thing perish, but the scene really does pack a wallop with that gunshot in. It was made that way. Walt Disney was with the production all the way and it's one of the great animated features. It's just, plain wrong to censor it.

I'd just like to see the picture intact... on laserdisc, naturally.

Hello villagenumber6

I have the have the Laserdisc below, it's been so long since I last watched this and I am hoping this scene has'nt been cut.
14673 CS Lady and the Tramp: Collector's Edition (1955)

The next time I watch this I shall look out for the scene in question.

Regards

Hi benmbe,
Thanks for your interest. I'm rather afraid you'll find the scene incomplete in that release, but at least you'll be able to see where the sound fx was meant to go. Now the dogs react to nothing instead of a gunshot. -I hope I'm wrong, though.
