Here's Skyfall from another thread:
This movie deserved a much better cover on DVD/BD.

(Sorry for the late reply, haven't been keeping up with the lddb forum)

When I saw the Solaris covers I just squealed (internally as I don't want to wake the kids) like a little girl. The Criterion covers really hit the nail on the head for that one, nicely produced.

The Red Planet cover is outstanding too. It makes me sad when I realise I can't really get them.

Another one that would be awesome on LD and make a great cover too would be Sin City.

As far as movies that were around during LD's lifespan: I've always been mystified as to why there was never a release of Jim Jarmusch's Ghost Dog, especially when there were several versions of his previous films already on the format.

A version of Roger Vadim's Blood and Roses would have been great as previously mentioned, especially if it was letterboxed with missing footage and french voice track reinstated… all things that are unfortunately missing from the EP mode VHS which is still the only way to see this film to my knowledge. :(

Also a ton of landmark anime that never had a subtitled release on LD i.e. Perfect Blue and most of the Ghibli films. Want these in my collection so bad but I can't watch them without training wheels.

For post-LD movies, I totally would love to see Nicholas Winding Refn's Drive, Panos Cosmatos' Beyond the Black Rainbow and Ti West's The House of the Devil. I'll probably dub these to VHS eventually for grins, but LD would suit them, as well.

After discovering that 2 LDs of Exosquad exist, I looked for other cartoons of it's era, and found Phantom 2040 exists in movie only. I wish that series had some discs.
I can't find any evidence that WILDC.A.T.S exists or not, but that would be one to own.

I'm kinda hoping there's an LD of the X-Men one-shot cartoon from the late 80s--Pryde of the X-Men out there somewhere. Maybe a Japanese release as it was animated by Tokyo Movie Shinsha!

It was also the basis of the Konami multiplayer arcade game from back then.

It's funny to see both Parade and Nattvardsgästerna on one picture. Both movies are completely different but both were shot in Sweden. :)
L'Avventura is a great film by the way.

How about then "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" (2001) I checked IMDB, mixed by Randy Thorm in SDDS 8 channel. Wow if only we can have SDDS on Laserdisc I'd be up for grabbing this. :)

Let it be THX Laserdisc Dolby AC-3.

Why don't the studios encode the SDDS8 mix into Dolby TrueHD 7.1 with an easy to read way of re-wiring the rear surrounds to the inner front 2 and 4 channels.

I might buy the bluray, well might as well its LPCM 5.1 so must be an exciting sound mix. the trailer looks cool.

All the Gatchaman series are on LD, but in straight Japanese with no subtitles, of course. Battle of the Planets wasn't available on video at all, as far as I know, until ADV did it. Now Sentai Works is re-releasing it in the US. I think the BotP dub will be on there.

I thought of another series I wish had seen LD, the TV anime Wingman. While there might have been a VHS release, it doesn't seem like there was any LD. The same was true of other shows based on Jump manga like Dragonball, Fist of the North Star, and Kinnikuman. For some reason, even though those were the most popular shows EVER they never came to LD. This is odd, IMO, since between 87-99 nearly every anime you'd ever want to watch hit LD.

widescreen copies of conan the destroyer, with dolby surround (the 1st one was issued, why not the sequel)
wouldn't mind widescreen editions of several P&S titles--coming to america, K-9, twins, give my regards to broad street...(not including dvd)
