I'm extremely thrilled Avatar is losing countless records. If there ever was a terrible film, it's that one.

I will agree with you there. Certainly regret paying to see that in theaters.

Have you noticed that Jim Cameron hasn't put out a congratulations ad for Episode 7 beating Avatar?

Usually when these kinds of records are broken, the other filmmaker will always put out a congratulations ad with some clever cartoon of their movie with the one that just beat it.

I think its poor form that Cameron hasn't done that for Ep. 7 and the disney JJ Abrams team.

To be fair, wasn't it Spectre that beat Avatar, and Episode VII beat Spectre?

Also, hasn't this record been held by Cameron basically since Titanic? IMHO it's quite understandable if a tradition that hasn't been relevant for about two decades is forgotten ;)

I think Spectre was just for advanced ticket sales? Ep. 7 is the first film to beat Avatar in overall ticket sales in North America.

I can see your point that it's been a long time since the overall box office champ has been held by Cameron but I think it's a simple courtesy given from one filmmaker to another.

Box office hit or not...

I doubt anyone is going to make a masterpiece like The Godfather movies any time soon...

Hate me if you wan't for stating this but when it comes to "real" movies (drama) there's nothing that comes near...

Star Wars? haven't seen it yet but going when I find the time. I've set my expectations fairly low. it won't be like Empire or Jedi anytime soon I guess...?
Hoping it charms me in every way but I guess "the magic" is gone since I've aged :(
Don't forget Star Wars was HUGE when the original trilogy saw the light of day but after all these years we've grown up and maybe that's the reason why we all are so critical about new episodes of no matter what....

I know kids who love the prequal SW trilogy but hate the "puppets" used in the original ones... I mean, they grew up not knowing any "better".
Is that better or worse... you decide but we are aging you know :wtf: :shh:

Anyway,

You surely haven't had to suffer to seat through the 88min. misery that was Twixt.

Let's hope that won't happen again.

But if you haven't seen Kylo Ren in SNL's skit, you should!

Thanks for the link to the snl skit Julien !

Matt ! ! ! Lmao

Liked the skit better then episode 7 ......

Just cant believe the lame soundtrack and pathetic dialogue in ep 7. Absolutely no substance.
No background history, no insightful story telling, and literally no continuity of the entire first 6 episodes in my opinion.

Too many disconnects since the last scene of Ewok celebrations on Endor in Episode VI.
Where was the force essences of Obi-Wan, Yoda, the redemptive Anakin, or even Quigon Jen ...... ?

No Mention of what Luke and Leia did with their lives... not to mention the adventures of Han and Chewie over so many years !
One would presume that Ren would keep his A** in line and run with the good guys rather then risk the wraith of Chewbacca !
And whatever happened to Lando ! ? !

Would like very much to read about the direction Lucas wanted to take in continuation of his story that disney rejected.......

I will accept my fault of being a lifelong fan of StarWars..... had big expectations from Mr. Abrams.

The soundtrack is a bit scaled back because Williams couldn't record it with the London Philharmonic due to health challenges, so keep that in mind.

I thought the music did have some good pieces nonetheless.

Just for fun... Star Wars 7 trailers re-edited in the style of a Japanese anime opening sequence :-)

(LSO) London Symphony Orchestra. The score is lacking Abbey Road scoring stage acoustic tone of the hall.

No the score wasn't quite as great as the originals, but it's hard to continuously improve on something that was already so good. That being said, I did like "Rey's Theme".

"The Starkiller", "Farewell and The Trip" and "The Jedi Steps and Finale" were particular favorites for me.
