Arrived in the afternoon post today, Death Becomes Her (1992) NTSC pressing.

Dark black comedy with crazy visual effects that still hold up.

Death Becomes Her (1992) [41424]
NTSC

Death Becomes Her (1992) [PLFEB 31471]
Also had the PAL pressing since mid 90's.

"Stay away from, me"!
"You bet I. Animal, psycho...
"Don't come near, me".
"Wife pusher".

Picture is better on the NTSC pressing.

Sound is about equally the same.
Dialogue panning are occasional heard over LCR and surrounds towards end of the film.
Bass and sub bass extension rumbles and tumbles when, Ernest pushes, Madeline down the stairs.

Death Becomes Her (1992) itv3 Dolby Stereo

Kinder of watched this a few weeks ago with recent NTSC laserdisc brought to add to PAL edition and then a few days later brought the region 2 DVD and now its on itv3 late night of December which the year same month it opened at the cinema, 4th December 1992.

The picture looks good on the itv3 for standard definition. The Dolby Stereo is heavenly compressed clamping down on the dynamic range!!

I really liked this movie too but hadn't seen it in ages, so it was great that this arrived just in time for Christmas:

I wasn't aware of Hi-vision pressing of that, very nice. Post some pictures that match some of the ones above to see.

It's unfortunate that the Hi-Vision movies don't show the format to its full potential thanks to the film transfer technologies used at the time. I have a couple of the underwater scenery discs and the Sony Test Disk which has some scenery shots. These were filmed with HD video cameras/VTR's of the era and can really look amazing. The underwater stuff looks definitely better than DVD to me, and there's a short sequence on the Sony disc of a house in what looks like European mountains - if someone told me this was playing from BD I'd believe them, yet at the same time it has a kind of 'analogue' quality about it that I just really like.

A copy of Stargate arrived with this, which I haven't watched through yet, but on a brief preview of the opening scenes it looks like about the best film I have on Hi-Vision so far. Jurassic Park, Cliffhanger, ET look good (won't try to rank individually as I haven't watched C.H. or ET through yet). Close Encounters, Twins, Death Becomes Her are pretty average, perhaps better than DVD or not depending on personal preferences/biases. Universal Soldier is I think the worst PQ of the ones I have.

Anyway here's some screenshots as requested:

Wow ouch, those look great! They sure show an edge of detail sharpness that was ahead of competition, shame they didn't do them with AC-3, although how does the 3+1 sound is it true discrete any chance of youtube video with switching off or disconnecting one of the channels to get a rough ideal on how it sounds?

The entire can of spray paint  I can almost make out the fine print letters.

They could have normal digital tracks too - so DTS on them would have been possible and is what I'd have liked to have had! But Muse A-mode was the only discrete multi-channel audio they came with (four discrete channels - effectively 4.0). Compared to the Muse two channel B-mode audio the bit depth and sampling frequency was reduced to keep the bandwidth down (B = 48kHz 16 bit, A = 32kHz 15 bit). As I understand it the Muse system was developed for analogue HD broadcasts, so a digital compression system like AC3 wasn't used. The Muse system was then also used to fit HD video on LD (use of the red laser was also required on top of the muse compression to fit the same time/length of video on the 12" disc).
