I've been trying to find a decent, but free, database for my large video collection. One that is as well designed as the LDDb. One that allows submissions, but has an administrator that vets all entries. But I can't find one. I collect LaserDiscs - LDDb has me covered. I collect CEDs - LDDb has me covered. I will be collecting VHDs shortly - LDDb has me covered. I Collect UMDs - I've tried the UMD Database. Most of my titles aren't in it, and my submissions haven't been added. I collect ligit VCDs - No Database found - at all! I have a huge collection of VHS Prerecords - over 700! - No decent Database. I have an even larger collection of DVDs - over 1,700! (Regions 0, 1, 2, 3, 4) - No decent Database I will soon be collecting Blu-Rays - No decent Database can be found. All of the Databases that I've mentioned above not covered at the LDDb either cost money to buy software for, or aren't all that good anyway based on the trial versions. The LDDb is the best designed and maintained Home Video Database I've ever found. Period! At this point I'm willing to make additional donations to the LDDb if Julien could add some of these formats here. Maybe add one per year, so as not to over-tax Julien. Just having the ability to enter in my videos (that I own now and will buy in the future) would be a godsend. Is there any amount of money that could be donated to make this a worthwhile goal? VHS is already dead, and the same probably could be said of UMDs. So, there would be no future releases to contend with. And while DVD is alive and kicking, it won't outlast Blu-Ray - I don't think. Thoughts? STAY AWESOME!
I have been using DVD Aficionado for years to catalog my DVDs. Extensive database for all regions.
I'm trying them out since you posted this. A couple of problems though. I've already found several of my DVDs that aren't listed in their database. How to I add them. Also, there are some titles that I have duplicates of, but I see no way to indicate how many copies I own. Question. Are other members collections visible to other members? I want my collection to be visible. STAY AWESOME!

Lets have database for lack of chapters on some DVD bluray titles where the laserdisc is often full of chapter marks. Anyone noticed that!

I think enough formats are covered, the exception being Betamax. Maybe we can contribute further to this site by simply adding to what exits. In other words, add whats lacking, like the "wanted" pictures of laserdisc. There are many missing. Contribute in the additional info area about discs. Go through your own discs, punch them in the database and start there. We know our discs discs and have plenty to add. Also, missing release dates, film dates, aspect ratios, P&S?, widescreen?, Dolby?. DSS?
I recently started doing that myself. With a united effort, we could reduce the amount of missing info.

I recently started doing that myself. With a united effort, we could reduce the amount of missing info. I already do that, with the exception of uploading covers, as I can't do that. However whenever I get a disc I check all the info against what's already listed. I frequently add mint marks, as they're frequently missing otherwise. And even when there ARE mint marks I check them against my copy. I have found several that it turns out where actually made by two, or sometimes even three manufacturing sites. I haven't found a release made at four sites yet, but you never know. More often than not, it's CED listings missing most of the data about the releases I add to my collection. Usually they are frequently just a bunch of question marks until I add the info. I DO also find this with Japanese released LaserDiscs, but I submit all the data I can. It's very time consuming though. Also, check your Warner Home Video LD releases. I have found some rereleased titles priviously not listed. For example, I will find one with the catalog number ending with A/B or LV, when the already listed title doesn't have them. Such as 0000 LV or 0000 A/B. They will even have different mint marks (not always though). Also, check Paramount Home Video LD titles. Some (U.S.) titles were manufactured by Pioneer Japan, and then later issues of the same release made by Pioneer USA. STAY AWESOME!
