Didn't know where to post this...but i'm looking to find a specialty store somewhere in the US that deals strictly in rare and hard to find out of print VHS tapes. I'm looking for a few specific German dubbed into English "b" movies that got very limited VHS releases (never on LD or DVD), one of which I just lost a once in a lifetime chance on on ebay. I figure there's gotta be some kinda specialist out there that deals in this stuff.

Using google searches i'm coming up empty handed with nothing. If anyone knows of a dealer or store like what i'm looking for, please inform...any help appreciated :)

With all the video stores near me gone along with their inventory, I really wouldn't know where to tell you. Depending on your location in the US, if you're close to a large rural area, you might find a video store on its way out with a stash of tape.

If you feel like a road trip, they showed this one guy, I can't remember where, on the documentary Rewind This! who had a garage literally full of old VHS tapes he was selling (and not for cheap mind you--like $10 per tape.)

And there were a few stores that I pointed out in a few of the VHS/Video Store threads in the "Everything Not Even Related to LD" sub-forum that died recently and were liquidating their inventory like:

Thomas Video

and

But those were quite a bit ago.

I do see ads on craigslist from time to time about video stores closing as well. You might want to check there.

Are there specific titles you're looking for? There's a place near me that has an eclectic inventory of just about every type of audio/video media. They'd be more likely to try and sell something like what you describe than toss it.

Unfortunately, i'm in an area that you can't even find many places that even deliver take out food LOL (another words....bumble nowhere). Checked out the links in the thread you posted and yea, a few years too late on those. Thanks for the info though!

Yes, a few specific titles...main one was issued under a few different titles in it's rare US version release. Could be under "Wild And Free", "Wild And Beautiful" or "Wild And Beautiful On Ibiza" (which I just lost a once in a lifetime chance on ebay).

The other is called "Escape To Paradise" from 1985. I have a good copy of the edited version of this one from an early 90s cable TV recording, but the VHS held the uncut.

Both of these are easily available on DVD in their German language versions, but not the US ones. Those are mega rare and what i'm trying to obtain.

You might call/try Eddie Brandt's Saturday Matinee in North Hollywood, CA. Many rare titles including VHS.
