Just viewed / listened to Kitaro:1990 World Tour Video.
Sound was just epic !
Caught a Kitaro show that year in London at the Royal Albert Hall.
This LaserDisc brought back some very good memories from that trip over the pond.

Sunday night I watched Re-Animator: 10th Anniversary Edition (1985) (Uncut) [EE4323] and forgot how many great scenes and lines that movie has e.g., "Should I have left you a note: 'Cat dead, details later'?"

I saw Silent Running (1972) [40483] for the first time last night and pondered why any director would think having Joan Baez shriek throughout their movie would be a good idea.

I was home yesterday recovering from a bad case of food poisoning :silent: so maybe Dead Ringers: Special Edition/Crimes of the Future #305 (1988) [CC1457L] wasn't such a good choice.

I watched the Criterion Dead Ringers three years ago with my girlfriend at the time; I loved it and she of course hated it. In tribute to Drs Elliot and Bev Mantle, I rewarded her lack of taste by chasing her around the apartment with an ice cream scoop in one hand and double wheel can opener in the other for 20 minutes.

Just watched Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. Odd thing about that though, the US LD listing on LDDb says "Pan and Scan" while the Japanese LDDb entry says "TV Sized" denoting that it's open matte (since the OAR is 1.85:1, I'm assuming this was matted.)

So did the person making that entry for the US LD goof as it is probably open matte? Or is it actually P&S?

Just got done watching Hot Shots! (1991) [1930-80].
Lloyd Bridges really stole the show, what a great comedian actor.

Wait until you see Part Deux. He's even better!

Watched Hot Shots! Part Deux (1993) [8507-80]. Done with the Hot Shot series. Both are funny films with Bridges at his best. Highly recommend for a silly evening.

You can never be sure about these things. "TV Size" can be cropped as easily as open-matte, since the listing for the Japanese version could just as easily be in error, & there's no proving that the same transfer was used for both discs without watching them.

Watched A Fistful of Dynamite http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/07067/ML100872/Fistful-of-Dynamite-A-%281971%29. A little desaturated, but pretty much the full uncut version with original non-tweaked English Mono PCM. Everything is there pretty much except for the full 3 minute version of the final flashback.

I'm about to watch my latest additions, minty copies of Ryan's Daughter, The Man Who Would Be King, and the Director's Cut of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, all of which have been on my wantlist for some time.

Just got done with National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985) [11521LV]. This disk has analog audio only and it took me a few minutes to figure out why I had no audio, I had my receiver set on digital input.

Watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) [11889]. The good old days when Chevy Chase was making funny movies, and Randy Quad wasn't a crazy lunatic.

We watched Man Who Knew Too Little, The (1997) [15626]. I installed my AC3 mod for my laserdisc player this past weekend so I'm trying to get in some AC3 movies and was pleasantly surprised to see that this was one of them.

I posted a step by step instruction guide for the modification if anybody is interested at:

Check it out if your thinking about doing a modification, or for pure interest. :)

Nice!! I just re-watched these myself to prep for a Q&A I went to with the producer Michael Uslan. Though the DVDs feature DTS tracks, I love the original Dolby Stereo on Batman. And the Forever Stereo Surround PCM is incredibly dynamic with tons of natural bass in every channel. I want to eventually complete my LD Batman set (though I really don't want to admit that I'd ever buy another copy of Batman & Robin  ) How's the Returns LD? I always held off of getting one because it was a heavy rotter title. And for being the first mass release with Dolby 5.1, the credits simply list Dolby Stereo so I might enjoy that mix a little more.

And is it just me or do the cleanups done for the Anthology DVD/Blu-rays look a bit off? There's hardly any grain most of the time and the films look much softer than I remembered.

Watched THE DEMOLITIONIST and Q-THE WINGED SERPENT. SERPENT had a real good picture quality, I believe much better than alot of mainstream movies. ELITE did a very good job on this one, too sad they didn“t continue their work when DVD arrived..at least not in standards of their LD production.
