The first two still look like video and not film. The new 4K DCP "restored" version of DIE HARD that occasionally plays in theaters is a new scan that looks good but is completely teal.

COMA (1978) being watched again and its the most watched MONO film well over 100 times since I bought it on region 1 DVD a few years ago.

The coma tv show I saw and could only stand 25 mins of it. Dreadful. The music in the coma tv, Riddley Scott was an annoying sound mix. Music drowning out sound effects all the time.

It's just a cool low budget film with nicely performed by Michael Douglas, Rip Torn, Geneviève Bujold, Elizabeth Ashley. Directed by Michael Crichton.

When the score cuts in on COMA (1978) when Susan sees the hit man standing across the road, starring at her in the car park it always gives me the chills.

COMA gets a 10 out of 10 in my books.

The film to video transfer looks great with soft to warm colours and natural looking indoors/outdoors scenes.

Its a chiller thriller someone is bumping off patients on purpose.

A younger The Abyss (Ed Harris).

Chilling exciting Jerry Goldsmith score follows Susan around the basement and the mix sounds cool with background sound effects of steam hissing and the score balanced nicely over it,

The sound of the stockings falling has nice airy sound as it passes by nicely recorded MONO mix.

This would sound cool if mixed Dolby 11.1  have the breathing sounds widely spread spaced out over 4 zone side wall and rear wall surrounds.

Image

Then a quick sound move cut with sound across 5 screen fronts breathing discretely independent wit softer faint sound on rear surrounds due to the nature of the walls and the reflectivity.

With other zone surrounds above and below softer fainter reflections.

And does this DIE HARD have same theatrical 1988 Dolby mix with sound effects in there correct postilion like the THX Laserdisc. Listen to the opening where Argyle, puts the compact cassette into the tape player. Does the insert sound on stage right. (not stage centre with that re-mix).

Quiet the opposite I rather enjoyed ROBOCOP 2. Also have it on Lasersidc and box set ROBOCOP

Robocop 2 (1990) [ID8014OR]

Mission Impossible cool show enjoyed watching on Sunday afternoons during the many re-runs of 70's 80's and 90's.

Watched Lock Up (1989) last night on a HD broadcast I recorded. Its very entertaining, but I think this year's Escape Plan which has a similar plot and also has Stallone staring as the lead was a better directed film.

That was on I think it was ether MM movie Mix or 5USA a few weeks ago in what sounded like MONO. I didn't bother with I have I think someone on VHS?

I've heard poor reviews of the 5.1 DTS-HD track on the Blu. The 2.0 DTS-HD track which is also included did fair a bit better but was still judged mediocre. I think its the fault of the source elements more then anything else.
