The last post is of the following Movie,

Yes it is a violent movie in places, but for sheer Cinematic experience and Cinematography and camera work is stunning and stylized.

To my mind this will become a benchmark in the future......The US directors cut and transfer is simply Chrystal clear.

On Film4 last week Terminator 2 (1991)

The PCM was and sounded like junk. The Laserdisc PCM would eat TV PCM broadcasts. Why do they bother using compression then put ear bleeding TV ads in our faces that are 10db louder than then film.

The picture to colour issue looked like a video engineer was trying to hide it or not too sure what source where it came from might have been a transfer used for bluray? It had no reel change over dots. I really wasn't into watching it. I recoded it so I can later compare with bluray and the Laserdisc pressings.

Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986) on MM movie mix a few nights back and I laughed when Whoopi Goldberg bites John Wood's dick and bites it.

After the film finished I repeated the scene over and over for nearly 2 hours before the repeat was so far behind the current program playing ahead of it.

To bad the Laserdisc is P/S I might think about it. The bluray is region A so a lot of good that would do since the player is region B and can play region Free. I'd have to maybe settle for region 1 DVD then?

On 5* last night The Rock (1996)

I realized I can't stand Michael Bay films and the snappy fast annoying film editing put to sound effects editing and sound mixing that makes the film sound NOISY! after 40 mins plus annoying TV ads that are played +10db higher or so than the film. I switched off the TV digital box.

I was tempted to play the region 2 DVD 2 disc special edition but after realizing I can't stand the film no longer I didn't bother.

Watched the classic THX 1138 dtsHDMA 5.1 in Lucasfilm Ltd THX Sound System three times last night. Last first time on bluray was I think early this year or late of last year?

Brilliantly photographed white mostly whites and good use of shadows contrast looks dazzling if not maybe for some too annoying. A future where we'll maybe all heading would be controlled some day in underground massive city labyrinth.

This film I will only watch on Laserdisc in its orignal unaltered form. There is some shocking CGI in the "Director's Cut".

I have the 1995 Japanese pressing which seems to have sky rocketed in value recently.

I kinder sensed some of the CGI scenes and its kinder of bothered me.

I'll have to keep a look out for NTSC USA pressing.

On E4+1 last night, "the Dolby Stereo theatrical mix" of DIE HARD (1988) recorded the last hour as I have had the tv digital box switched off all day.

I was listening to the scene where Hans takes the Beretta 92f and aims it at McClane then pulls the trigger? Yep it was heard on stage right as it should (not re-mixed to centre like on the DVD).
