LOL - Scared Stupid is an absolute classic, I loved that flick through and through when I was young. I recently read that the Chiodo bros recycled a couple of the clowns/ghoulies from Killer Klowns From Outer Space into ESS, here's a link to the site. Now I want it on LD. I love the quote on the cover, "Wacky" - is that the best thing they could find in the reviews? LOL

Watched the '90 pressing of Gremlins tonight, in the words of Will Ferrel it was scrumtralescent. I haven't watched this in hi-def or even DVD yet, so it's the best I've ever seen and heard it, I would recommend this all day every day.
Last night I watched Tales From the Crypt Demon Knight, and the Tales From the Crypt Vol 1 (3 episodes) - both excellent. I did not know Bill Sadler was in the first TFTC episode and movie. The movie I highly suggest, the television episodes as well. The TV episodes I'd skip on LD, you can find the season DVD's extremely cheap used. I even bought a couple new at Best Buy on sale for $10 a while back, and older seasons for less than $10 at resale shops.

Elie Somewhere around 3.5 or so on the fader its not surprising the mix might have been a bit over-loud! CAV pressing is still in great shape since I brought it around October 1996. Twister (1996) [20102]Brightness colour is still marvellous even when comparing to a few 35mm frames I got from a drive-in where I only helped out during the last week as the owner was jacking it all in at the end of the winter season. The frames to one of the scenes in the film was on side 4 where Dusty and others are looking out the window. "Bill: Jonas Miller. He's a nightcrawler. We all started out working in the same lab, but Jonas went out and got some corporate sponsors. He's in it for the money, not the science. He's got a lot of high tech gadgets... but he's got no instincts... and he doesn't have ... Dorothy." Dr. Melissa Reeves: "You people are all crazy! Do you know that?!" Dusty: "What?" Dr. Melissa Reeves: "And she's the craziest one of them all." Saw it on its first day release (Friday July 26th 1996) at the local MGM screen 1, JBL 4675A (THX approved) JBL 4645 (THX approved) surrounds was unknown x6 on the back wall and sounded great. watched the film close to 8 times over the weeks as it was the only best sound I have listened to during the summertime. The Stephen Hunter Flick (Robocop, Apollo 13) sound effects was fantastic awesome. Switch Preset 7 AUX 2 to Preset 6 AUX 1, turn fader up a bit more -6.8db its still an ear-buster! Dorothy 1 Wacky cool cast for this no brainer, just switch it and enjoy the film. On the second storm SPL db was just a shade below 100dbC Just Bloody Loud I'll leave fader at -6.8db the level fits the room nice and warmly, with clear dialouge, and lots of directional on screen and off-screen defused surround with some directional ones. LFE.1 is set within a few db of the stage channels so it provides support rather than being in my face and washing out the stage bass which is not what I want Seats still vibrate plenty enough. Dolby EX or PLIIx gives it greater listening excitement with boat flying though air in the storm on SIDE 3 and passing right behind. Completely immersive surround with the below matrix surround activated as well with overhead matrix.

substance wrote: Jurassic Park Hi-Vision LD Mildly Dnr'ed and EE'ed but nevertheless very watchable. Color timing seems correct (how I remember the film). Very low noise, nearly none except the intact film grain. Free of compression artifacts. I don't know which I like better blu-ray or HV-LD. BD gets the flesh tones and shades of green on forests a bit better on some parts but I like the intact film grain on HV-LD and overall its a good transfer. Awesome, you've seen/own both the H-Vision version and the 2D Blu-Ray. Would it be possible for you to take a screenshot or 2 comparing the Hi-Vision LD to the Blu-Ray? The screenshots don't need to be perfect, just give a general idea. I'd love to see that.

substance wrote: You know I own all this equipment but don't own a single decent camera. Photography is not really an interest. So far I use my cell phone as camera for everything. It's a samsung galaxy s4. Its a decent camera in specs but I also know specs doesn't mean much when it's optics are the size of pencil head.
I tried taking a few screen shots but they don't show much. I will try a few more over the next day or two and make a review thread for you. Thank you, substance, I appreciate the effort even if it doesn't work out.

just watched the Godzilla: The Death Battle Chronicle [TLL 2190]Champion Matsuri version of Godzilla vs. King Kong really fun if you don't want to sit through a 90min version, these cut right to the action and are really nice. you can even watch 2 in a row if you have the extra time. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:

Yesterday I watched From Dusk Till Dawn - Hilarious movie, great! The Puppet Masters - Lots of problem with this one. Sutherlands voice sometimes doesn't sync with the picture. He's speaking, but his mouth is and feels motionless. Didn't go well at the end of side one. Player lost tracking and I noticed a click in the digital audio track. Side two played fine. Had some time left so I watched The Road Warrior, Mad Max 2 - This one played just fine on both sides.
