Star Wars, Episode 4
Dates are approximate.
1977 premier in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
1981 rerelease in El Paso, Texas.
1983 analog P/S on a Pioneer LD-1100.
1989 digital P/S on a Cld-1080.
1992 Letterbox on a player that played both sides (flipper).
2000 THX on a Cld-3070.
2010 AC3 on a Cld-704.
I have also seen the Thx release in a thx theatre if I remember right.
I have not seen it on DVD or Blu-ray at least not yet.
Of course I've went through several displays which change the experience. My first was a 60" Kloss Novabeam followed by a 25" Pioneer crt. Than a 40" SD crt, than a 32" 4/3 HD crt from Samsung and my current display is a 42" HD Panasonic plasma.
Is this dedication or overkill? The saga continues.

You definitely have episode IV covered.

I have the following episodes:

Episode I, CDV
Episodes 2 and 3, DVD
Episode 4, 5 and 6, CED and LD
Episode 7, DVD

Don't ask me if any of them are wide screen or P&S as I do not record that information.

Extreme yes, crazy no. I think I have most of the USA releases, still on the lookout for the early CAV P/S copy.
By the way, I have spent many an hour on your web sites, a great resource. Thank you

I saw! They're also releasing all the films (including Solo and Rogue One) with matching covers on Blue-Ray, however for the first time ever 1-6 will include digital copies.

I need to rebuy a good portion of the blue-rays thanks to this awful set. It looks great, and the bonus features are great, but the paper sleeves the discs are in make them impossible to pull out without scratching the disks themselves.

I'll wait for some sort of 4k set, until then I have the widescreen Laserdisks, and the SE boxset on Laserdisc.

Hmmm, my BD set looks similar but doesn't have paper sleeves :wtf:

I think he means those stupid pocket style ones in a foldout cardboard sleeve. It's like a giant gatefold except the discs are inserted into cuts right in the middle of each "page".

Mine isn't like that, it has clear plastic disc holder pages.

Yeah cardboard would have been more accurate. They suck and have ruined both my copy of The Phantom Menace and A New Hope.

Yeah but clear plastic disc holder pages, not blue like those pics. The disc holders aren't flimsy either they're nice and tight ;)

I think I have split up BD sets, OT and PT. I don't remember the packaging being super terrible.

I think those would be a lot less "fancy" anyway. They don't even have the bonus discs.

Honestly the only reason I'm interested in getting the complete saga box set, besides getting the PT, is the vintage making ofs since it's the most affordable way of getting them...although "From Star Wars to Jedi" is still not included, probably because of a statement from Lucas that might seem a little bit controversial now

I have no idea about or much interest in SW extras tbh. Any interesting extras locked on LD?
