Very sad to report that the father of the zombie genre has died. George A. Romero passed on at the age of 77. Cannot even begin to express how much this man influenced my life ...... The whole world has reveled in the creativity of George Romero since the 60's ..... Heart goes out to his family and close friends ....... Thank you George, your influence will live on for generations ...... Fare Thee Well Brother ..... |

Though having not seen many of his other films I always considered Night of the living dead a classic. R.I.P |

Cult horror classics. RIP George Remero. 'Dawn of the Living Dead' that freaked me out that did on VHS. The make-up effects was so grim and gruesome. |

Horror Movie Maestro George A. Romero Dies, Aged 77 This one hurts a bit. I've been a big zombie movie fan ever since I saw Dawn of the Dead on VHS way back in the early 80s. I've seen almost all George Romero's movies. I was lucky enough to get a picture with him at DragonCon back in 2006 along with an autograph for my Elite Dawn of the Dead box set: ![]() ![]() Hard to believe that there would be all this flesh-eating zombie mania these days if it wasn't for him and John Russo making Night of the Living Dead back in 1968. Here's a video clip I uploaded to youtube of Romero getting the "Mastermind Award" at the 2009 Scream Awards: Mastermind Award for George A Romero - 2009 Scream Awards RIP good sir. |

Yes, this one absolutely hurts badly! This man was a true legend of film-making. I too was fortunate enough to meet him at a convention 2 or 3 years ago. He was a super nice gentleman, and he was kind enough to autograph my laserdiscs of Martin, The Crazies, Season of the Witch, and Night of the Living Dead. The latter was the older no-frills release from Image Entertainment (the I6000 release). If you look at the picture of it here on the site, you will see that it was taken before he signed it. The two autographs visible in the picture are from John Russo, who co-wrote the screenplay with George, and Bill Hinzman, who played the first zombie that appears in the cemetery at the beginning of the film. I didn't meet either of them. Their autographs were already on the jacket when I bought the disc from the previous owner. However, George looked at the autographs when he was signing it, and he confirmed that John Russo's definitely looked genuine to him. So sorry to hear of the loss of George. Let's keep his family in out thoughts and prayers. May he truly rest in peace. David |

Cool video link ^ elahrairrah I'm not a gore fan much but have seen them more than a few times at friends in the early 80's VHS late at night or late of the living dead of night time. I have one 'Dairy of the dead' on DVD.
