Ever go to Chiller Theatre? They're held up in North Jersey (Parsippany, to be exact), so that shouldn't be too far from you (few hours drive, I guess?)

The convention's a bit of a cluster f**k since they've outgrown that hotel considerably, but their guest list is always pretty good (got some autographs and pics with Elvira last time.)

There's also New York Comic Con which has grown considerably in the last few years. I usually hit that for one day.

Though I don't believe Laserdiscs would go over well there as the crowds are very young.

Rochester may be closer to Chicago than it is to NYC. At least, that is my impression from taking the Lake Shore Limited between the two big cities. There's plenty of stuff in Chicago, including this year's World Science Fiction Convention. And it's definitely closer to Toronto.

OK,after reading some of the locations commented on here it does appear that a LD-Con Tour would be in order not just one convention!
