Obviously I'm not talking about movies made after 2001 or whenever the last LD came out, but there's been at least two movies so far I'd actually wanted to buy on LD but discovered were never released anywhere - and if they were, they're not on the database, and I even searched by the IMDB number in case they were using alternate titles;

The Asphyx (1972): a British period horror set in Victorian England about a scientist that discovers a way to capture human souls on the moment of death.
Terminus (1987): a French-German post-apocalyptic action film set in a dystopian future about a man in some kind of a cross-country race driving a truck equipped with an AI that isn't very forthcoming about the details of the purpose of the race. Co-stars Jürgen Prochnow. This French trailer is pretty cool.

The latter in particular hasn't even been released on DVD in english; the only release(s) I could find was a French/German dub only disc with no subtitles.

The Asphyx - The Difference Between Life And Death.

That's a real blast from the past.

The last time I saw this was many years ago on TV when we only had 3 channels in the UK but never heard of it being broadcast since unless I have missed it.

Messed about with a bit (apparently recorded in Super Quadraphonic Sound but only ever exhibited in mono) cut prints here in the UK & US prints were a little longer but cannot find accurate info on any time shortfall & all releases are not perfect for a number of reasons. A couple of bits from imdb.....

A good U.S. version of this film has never been found. Only UK versions that are shorter with great quality. DVD releases of this movie have combined HD footage mastered from the 35mm negative with SD footage mastered from a U.S. release print of inferior quality resulting in significant shifts in image quality. You do get to see the entire extended version of the movie this way.
&
The film was originally shot in Todd-AO 35, a wide-screen process which is normally viewed at 2.35:1. The 1995 UK video featured a much shorter print and missed around 12 minutes of footage including dialogue scenes, an anti-hanging protest before the execution, and the removal of a scene showing the now-immortalized guinea pig being released from its cage. The 2004 Anchor Bay UK DVD features the same print and is presented in an anamorphic 1.85:1 ratio and also uses a pan & scan technique, thus cropping much of the print into a false version of wide-screen. The 2010 Odeon DVD features both the shorter and longer original prints in genuine widescreen.

I tried a couple of people who would usually know a bit or be able to get a bit of info but next to nothing is coming back, an almost "forgotten" feature.

I would go for that as one I would like to have seen on the LD format..... & Get Carter..... & The Wicker Man..... & a few others.

Cheers  .

Ridley Scott's Gladiator. Was released in 2000 so there was a chance it could have made it to LD in Japan, but alas . . . we were denied.

Probably should've added a condition for whole TV shows, lol.

Although I do agree on this one. Ditto with Voyager. Not that I'd ever collected them myself, but it must've sucked for anyone who did only for them to drop the format before the whole series was out.

I'd trade all five seasons of Voyager on LD for the last two of DS9 without a moments hesitation.

I finally got a copy of Legend of Boggy Creek on DVD, would have preferred Laserdisc.

An LD release of the Bondarchuk War and Peace would've been interesting, if nothing else for the sheer number of disks! A double box set?!

If we're veering into TV, boy it would be nice if they had done the entire run of Blakes 7. One of my all-time favorite shows, as a US resident I still cannot purchase a Region 1 version! Truly frustrating. :x

There is one! It's in Russian with Japanese subtitles tho so not very useful unless you know either language.

Right you are! Those languages don't help me, though. More evidence that the format became relatively mainstream in Japan, while remaining niche-y over here.

I can think of a few Disney flicks released during LDs lifetime that didn't get proper LD treatment that I wish did . . . The Black Cauldron and The Fox and the Hound. I know they made it to LD in France, but it's PAL that doesn't help me at all! The Black Cauldron made it to DVD in the US in the late 90s and The Fox and the Hound made it to VHS in the US in the early 90s, but no LD!

And dubbed presumably. There's also no letterboxed release of The Black Hole.

The Fox and the Hound made it to Japan and Hong Kong (late releases, dubbed):

Fox and the Hound, The (1981) [PILA-3037]
Fox and the Hound, The (1981) [H182]

Wrong 2.35:1 info then?

No, The Black Hole.

Black Hole, The (1979) [11AS]

Although searching by it's IMDB code, a French release comes up that is letterboxed, but also dubbed. Doh!
