First two films are easy as these were released from Criterion and Arrow on Blu-ray with excellent video and the theatrical soundtracks.

Police Story III/ Supercop is difficult. Almost all home video releases of this film has the English dub only, although I believe Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh did their own English dubs. There is a nice Criterion LD with the Cantonese dub but no English subs. I own the Kam&Ronson Blu-ray release which has the correct aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and the Cantonese audio but it is an 5.1 abomination remix. What is your opinion on the English dub? Is there a home video release out there with the correct aspect ratio, theatrical soundtrack and decent video quality?

Is Supercop 2 a part of Police Story? Michelle Yeoh returned but Jackie Chan only makes a cameo.

I guess Police Story IV/ Jackie Chan’s First Strike is somewhat easy too. It seems Warner’s master is used in all markets including HK for the home video release. You get the correct aspect ratio and the English dub only. It is what it is.

I absolutely love Supercop and my favorite line is from the English dub (big time Newline Cinema I think) delivered by good old Bill Tung,

“What we need…is a Supercop!”

It was a golden age. Never again. I love these movies to death.

Supercop II is extremely good, included or not.

I actually don't know if I've ever seen these police story or super cop, I think I watched crime story a few months ago.

Some of the Chan films are hit and miss to me, sometimes to comical but some are OK with it too.
I'll have to see if these are on streaming for free.

HKR have a great edition of Supercop.

These titles are all unofficial releases but are really well done. I have Hard Boiled which is excellent. Getting The Killer next.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other I'd say.

That said there is some proper effort that goes in to making these, what I would term, 'ultimate editions' for want of a better term. As an aside, the guy behind HKR recently got access to a print of Bullet In The Head and fundraised to have a professional 4K UHD scan done of the negatives. That's now been completed and a restoration/remaster is underway. From what has been said, nobody else from the majors appears to be interested in the film so the HKR guy is doing it to fill a gap.

While not exactly wholesome, I appreciate what the HKR project is doing. The work on Hard Boiled was outstanding, it's never looked better, for example.

Yes it is really impressive. Do they come burned on BD-R blanks or printed like store bought discs?

Covers are printed properly and in the exact same cases Criterion use (the HKR guy is facing a shortage of these at the moment apparently). No inkjet nonsense for the covers or the disc labels either.

It's all done on BD-R's on high quality discs etc. You can also opt to just get the ISO's as a download instead. You can also opt to get untouched MKV's instead of everything on the discs. It's all done on BD50's.

I've only got Hard Boiled but am certainly happy with the quality of the physical product the guy has put out. It's similar to a copy of Dynamo I got from a 35mm collector in Spain that puts his 35mm reel collection on Blu Ray.

Side note, the HKR person seems to be flat out according to the newsletters sent out. Delivery is a bit slow as it seems he's a one man show when it comes to the physical production line, case shortages and so on. Just expect you may wait a little longer than usual to get your stuff, but it will arrive. I had no issues in my experience at least.

If in doubt, opt for the ISO's. Hope that helps.
