The only Canterbury Tale I know of is the Pier Paolo Pasolini one.

I've been shamelessly watching The Norm Show from a torrent I downloaded. It looks barely acceptable from my laptop through the VP-50 to the CRT with the right settings. Some motion scenes still annoy me. The only other option would be paying for the DVD that came out a few years ago. Average going price US$200 (AUD$350-$400 after taxes and shipping).

In fact I'm on a sitcom kick. Watching my downloads of season 1 Married with Children with original music and VHS rips of the greatest sitcom ever made, Get A Life. Can't find a rip of the DVDs that came out, but think the DVDs were only selected episodes anyway.

Wish I was on lockdown to rewatch a lot more of this stuff...

Been watching Babylon 5 again, VUDU 480p version this time.
Most episodes are 4:3 but there are some odd episodes that are entirely widescreen inside 4:3, which just reminds me of watching stuff on LD
I wouldn't say the quality is great, but it's something different as I usually do reruns of this using my PAL DVD sets.

Very Bad Things (1998) [ID5487PG]

Dark comedy which I thoroughly enjoyed. Hilarious ending.

Aren't the DVDs entirely in widescreen?

Yes, but the cgi scenes are resized down to widescreen as they were 4:3 originally.
The whole show was done in widescreen afaik (super 35mm I think) but the cgi is only 4:3.
Original broadcasts were all 4:3.

I know a lot of people (probably most) don't care, but I'd like to see a definitive version of the show made much like the TOS enhanced versions, although it doesn't matter if the CGI isn't updated (enhanced) or any other extensive work imo. The main thing would be to use the best source and then have full versions of whatever frames are available.

What I mean is; on TOS enhanced you can select original or enhanced SFX scenes.
For B5 you basically have the whole thing in widescreen with original (4:3) or resized (16:9) CGI options.

Apparently there is an archival version of the complete show, cgi and all, on 35mm but it's the broadcast version (all 4:3).

That would be awesome but I don't think the money is there for something like Babylon 5. Awesome show though, it became a favorite of mine. :)

Had a Tony Scott moment and popped Top Gun ac-3 into the tray.
Wow.....
Been awhile...

Watched Kingdom of Heaven directed by his brother Ridley.
Now that is a well made film with many fantastic actors.
David Thewlis stood out as did many others.

A little down time cinema.......

Take it easy people !

Carlito's Way (1993) [ID4425MC]

The re-teaming of Scarface director De Palma and Pacino. This one plays like a tragedy with heart. One of the best films of its genre, IMO.

Easy Rider - the late 1995 Sony DADC US pressing on 10866 which has a really good transfer, a great picture on screen & thankfully totally rot free.

I have not watched this one for quite a few years now & enjoyed it more than I expected.

What a coincidence, I also watched that the other day.

Doesn't really quite have the same edge as the first movie.

I have been watching a lot of things these past couple of days:

- Finished The Walking Dead Season 10 ( season finale will come later this later due to the corona virus outbreak ). I think they could simply cancel this show. After Rick and his son Carl disappeared from the show, it somehow got less interesting. I love Negan and I think the actor is doing a fantastic job but some of the new characters are just boring like this Siddiq guy. I never cared about him and when he died I did not care, either. The first seasons were fantastic. Even season 7 and 8 were really decent but as soon as Carl died it got less so. It is still interesting to watch but if it was cancelled I could live with it.

Been watching a lot of Disney+ lately. They have some really good films on this platform.

I liked The Swiss Family Robinson made in 1960. It's a nice little family movie ( like all Disney films ). It had some fun moments and the production design was excellent.
I also watched the new Togo film, I think it is the first film exclusively made for Disney+. Both score ( Mark Isham ) and cinematography were excellent. Willem Dafoe ( one of my favourite actors ) was very good and the story was interesting to watch.
Cool Runnings - about one of the funniest films I have ever seen in my life. It has aged very well ever since it was released more than 25 years ago. I watched this once in cinema when it came out. As far as I know this has never been released on Blu Ray so it was nice to watch it in HD on Disney+. It has so many hilarious moments. John Candy was a very talented and funny actor. Great film with a great soundtrack. Would love to buy it on laserdisc one day. I really like these real life drama type of films.

I also watched The Towering Inferno and Dolores Claiborne the past two days. The Towering Inferno is an excellent film especially considering its age. It still looks very good today and I can imagine what a fun experience it must have been for people when it came out in the early 70s. It has aged very well, too.
Dolores Claiborne was a fine film. Kathy Bates is about one of the best actresses of our times. She was also very good in American Horror Story ( great series in my view ). I watched this one on DVD. Unfortunately the audio was Dolby Digital 2.0 only. It sounded very flat and boring ( I hate Dolby Digital 2.0 !!! ). But the film itself was great with stellar performances.

Cool Runnings is available on Blu Ray, but it is pretty expensive. Maybe an OOP title?

Great film though, I remember watching it in the cinema!

I think it's a Disney store exclusive. Black Hole was too, much to my chagrin.

Ah so these are the new Black Diamond's then.

Disney do my head in. Between self-censorship, limiting print runs to minus 5 copies, no f**king Pluto merchandise, a lousy streaming app that's riddled with more bugs than a hookers knickers and constantly fiddling with stuff I wonder why we bother.
