I have a rot free copy of Air Force One, Heavy Metal and Eraser. Kinda wild. My copies of Bad Boys and Starship Troopers have mild rot really only at one spot each and are watchable. MIB is perfect until the last CAV side which has wild rainbow speckles and is unwatchable. I think those are all the known heavy rotters I have.

DTS collecting doesn't appeal to me but it's faintly surprising there aren't more collecting subsets here, for example collecting LDs with previews (not self-same trailers), or a rotter defiance bubble with people trying to collect a perfectly playing copy of every disc on the 100 worst rotters list.

There probably are people who do collect like that (I am big into the LD F1 discs) but may be concerned that if they post/comment they may have someone or other on their back & the thread is killed before it can really go anywhere.

Pretty sure more than one thread has gone that way in the past.

One of my earliest posts here was a reply to someone who was asking about inner sleeves & I replied that I usually use paper sleeves to pop the onion skin sleeves into & if the onion skin (elephant condom) sleeve was mashed I replaced them with a lined sleeve & the response was basically who is this noob, what does he know, how long will he be here & the like - still here & still posting.

I know of one person who really knew his stuff on the LD format & he used this site but would not indulge in the forum & when I asked why he felt that he did not want to be "given pelters" as that is sometimes how things go here though it does happen on other sites sadly as well - I did understand where he was coming from.

Perhaps just a little thought for others may help before posting?

No dig at anyone, just a thought.

Cheers to all

Haha, I give all my onion sleeves to my neighbour as he has a massive record collection complete with original paper sleeves. I dont think he cares enough to upgrade them to poly lined sleeves like I do for my laserdiscs. His gain I suppose. Plus it keeps them out of landfill.

I post more positive than negative and I never tell anyone to stop posting. Zeta's posts are almost all negative and he literally wants content he doesn't like on this forum to not exist, he can't just not read it, it just shouldn't be there according to him.

Those are a really cool set to have survive. Heavy Metal is one I'd probably chance if it didn't cost as much as both movies on DVD and a complete copy of the PC game all together. Besides my experience with Contact was side 2 going from mild flurries to strobe lights in Buffalo winter in only two months.

ML105544 Goldeneye: Special Edition (1995)

We actually really enjoyed it, smashing tanks through the streets and oh that intro.
Had not watched since we saw at the local movie theater.

LD quality? 8.5 - 9 /10 very impressed. Other half had me turn down the subwoofer slightly

Yesterday we watched Con Air (1997) [12694 AS]

Thought the movie was great but the ending was a bit of a groan.

LD quality?
Great, solid 8, 8.5/10 no real complaints.

This afternoon i watched
42629 Jaws: Signature Collection (1975)

Still one of the best imho 10/10.
Thoroughly enjoyed.

LD Quality?
I had to play around a bit with my TV setting, everything looks great but picture is quite soft on the CLV discs.
7.3,7.9/10

One of my favourite lds back in the day. When I had a really limited collection I would spin this one up quite often. Ac3 soundtrack is banging.

Watched it recently on the x9 and found the picture to be full of aliasing artifacts. Never noticed it before when I used to watch it on my 925.

Would love to get the dts version.

Watched Koyaanisqatsi (1983) [ME137-25IP] for like the sixth time since I got it, and I've only owned it since September.

It's definitely my most re-watched title at this point. Maybe I should invest in the first US pressing since I apparently like it so much.

The completely absurd ending in Con Air fits the movie pretty well I'd say. Nice choices. Been awhile since I watched Jaws.

Watched The Rock the other night. The movie, not Dwayne Johnson.

"What kinda f***ed up tour is this?!" That line gets me every time.

The DTS track on laser packs a good punch.

I have 5 copies of The Rock, all from the same lot. Some absolute unit of a man really loved that movie; I for one think it's the best Michael Bay film (which isn't saying that much).

The Pompatus of Love Pompatus of Love (1996) [ID3712BM] ...

Which garnered all of zero results when I ran it through the search engine. The site entry for it is fascinating in that it lists a $10 sales point. One can only assume because the movie bombed because of bad marketing. Just look at the cover: four men, one of whom is ugly Jon Cryer, and a lone woman who is unidentifiable. This for a film with Mia Sara, Kristin Scott Thomas, Dana Wheeler Nicholson, and several others.
Anyhow, despite the gimmick that provides its name The Pompatus of Love is pretty good. Faintly artificial in a couple plot points c*m devices, but mostly natural, with natural dialogue and performances. Not Linklater quality, but still, recommended.

It's kinda like how Event Horizon is the best Paul WS Anderson film.
