Forper I would go for the Japanese box of T2 with like 30min of extra footage.
There is a also a Pioneer US special edition issued as well. [PSE-82997-6WS]
CHECK IT MAN !

I believe both have same content.
The extra footage really augments the story.
One of my son's all time favorite ! (Besides his A#1 Starship Troopers ! )

Sorry, not sure if my post was clear but I was after the best version of Terminator (1984). I've lost all interest in owning T2 at all.

The other day got a chance to see Joker.

It's one of those movies you can respect, though it's a little harder to like, IMO.
The exploration of what causes a lonely, unhinged man to explode, is not my cup of tea.

Who would one recommend it to?
Maybe comic book fans but not for comic book movie fans, particularly younger crowds. And I guess cinephiles will likely be drawn to it. Not for casual moviegoers.

I'd say it's best treated as if this wasn’t of a superhero or supervillain origin at all; that it's just an intimate tale of a dangerously insane man.

Are there any good jokes in it?

Very fair points.

Questionable choice of music though during a pivotal scene with the use of a Paul Gadd (Gary Glitter) track.

A convicted peodophile incarcerated for 16 years.

T1 and T2 are FANTASTIC films.

however, anything in the franchise beyond them, IMHO, simply DOES. NOT. EXIST.

While I haven't seen Joker yet I do want to but I'll wait to get it for free from the library.

You have to remember that all film scripts now will be pushed into what sells now, and that's superheroes.

The two come to mind, when I read about Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, they had a script about kids living by themselves after an airplane crash but couldn't figure out an ending and the company wanted to make MM sequel so they blended the stories and made Beyond.

Other was an article that my wife read about the Star Wars juggernaut, they asked with all these new sequels and prequels
where are all the new ideas going to go, they are going to be turned into a Star Wars film rather than getting something new.

Its a business and don't forget that.

I remember that story. They were specifically trying to figure out who would actually find the kids in their desert oasis and somebody pitched Max Rockatansky.

I recall Die Hard 3 similarly begun as a completely unrelated film titled "Simon Says" until someone got the idea of making John McClane the main character.

Harakiri (1962 Kobayashi)

A slow burning masterpiece that crests into the only ending it could possibly have.

Watched Alien: Resurrection the other day.

Still not sure what people's problem with this was. It's certainly aged better than any Alien movie made since!

Watched Natural Born Kilers and The Black Hole.

Haven't seen NBK in quite some time but picked up the DVD for a quarter.
Black Hole is always fun.

Once I get some of this other stuff done I will try to get the lids off my LDs so I can start watching them and going through more
of them to sell and enjoy the rare anime I have that's only on magical LD

I like Kobayashi. I don't remember this real well. Maybe I need another watch but I think you are right about but my brain is acting faulty at the moment.

This is right there among his best works imo. He's got a lot to say here about society.

It's a samurai movie that is anti-samurai. Sword of Doom and Samurai Rebellion (also Kobayashi) make kind of an unofficial trilogy. Sword of Doom is one of the best Japanese movies no one ever talks about.

We watched English Patient, The (1996) [12047 AS]

Neither had seen and the movie holds up, not bad at all.
The picture/transfer is quite solid and so was the audio. Im sure the Criterion edition may be better but overall was good viewing.

This was is one of the very first DVDs I got back in the day, remember being quite impressed with it back then (late 90s) viewed via my then just installed Select 310 CRT Projector. Have to admit I was always curious about the quality of Laserdisc release though...

After a disaster renting saga I almost ended up homeless with my stuff in storage. But yesterday, in the midst of legal action and b******t at work and all kinds of s**t that's hit the fan I got my LD stuff hooked up for the first time in almost 3 months.

Yet again, like in my whole life, people and family fail and have betrayed me and my stuff saves my life.

Reminds me why I keep trying. I almost forgot, my love for stuff has always gotten me through, I truly love it more than people.

Akina Nakamori Bitter Sweet followed by many more music LDs last night. I know you will scoff at my pic but IRL I love this image so much.

The media shelf in dissaray, I'll get it sorted out over the next few weeks:

As above look after yourself! And may I say what a great looking set up and room you have there Forper....exactly the way I would want to lay it out.

Just viewed Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder (JP release) excellent performance and sound quality to match, only let down by mediocre PQ considering it was shot on 16 mm film plus poor editing and too much unecessary use of slow-mo effects. Another gripe is the lack of "Money" which only featured on the US version I think?
