Looking to get some boxsets.

What are some nice affordable ones?
I have a few Jaws, planet of apes, the stand. But my favourties are Star Wars SE jap Boxset and Schindler's list box set.

Looking for nice big boxs with plenty of supplements etc.

T2 Box set is only one on my list so far to get.
Any good ones anyone can recommend which arnt wildly expensive/rare?

There's an Aussie dude on ebay selling some Japanese boxsets for $25aud a pop, postage is extra but he should combine (he does with single titles anyway)...no idea how much to ship to NZ though.

Can't recommend anything specific. Think he had a few copies of Indy trilogy, but I haven't checked his boxsets listing since last week so idk what's there now (he does prune and might add to his listings).

I can say I've had a good experience buying from him though, but of course I live in Australia and got some stuff when he had a 20% off sale.

He still has a fair amount of stuff including $3aud movies.

Fortunately our government has a reasonable parcel forwarding system from USA.

The Star Trek Voyages boxset (Movies 1-7) is pretty nice looking, and it's only floating around $50 usd, which isn't much considering the amount of movies included and their quality.

Aside from that all the alien films have nice collectors editions with bonus feature discs, those usually hover around $10 a pop.

Wow, really? I'm a bit surprised tbh how does that work and what do you mean by reasonable?

I get we have 10% GST here for imports but that's just for online purchases it doesn't affect everything sent here by post.
It's the US postal system that makes sending stuff here expensive. I mean getting a laserdisc player or a heavy game console sent here just isn't worth it, it's cheaper to get something shipped from Asia or even Europe.

I am shipping a LARGE VCR to the UK this morning and my initial quote for them was $115 and it might actually end up being slightly higher. Just awful.

Yeah, I sort of remember it was after 911 that they made all international packages over 4 pounds go priority or express only.
Those kill you on price.

But China gets a deal and they are able to ship dollar items to the USA for free
They even ship guitars to the US for free  Selling them for 200 with free shipping.....

I know if I were to ship a guitar to Australia today it would be around 350.00

As for boxes, pretty much any Japanese box is nice.
The anime ones are always great, have great booklets and sketches.

Movie ones are nice but some early boxes are just the discs in a box and sort of stripped down, but always slightly better than USA
releases.

You will also usually get the discs in their own single sleeves inside the box not just the paper or plastic sleeves as so many
USA releases have.

China ships stuff everywhere for next to nothing which is why a lot of those sellers have free post. The ones that do charge post are using it to set a slightly higher minimum price. They get away with it because everything is dirt cheap anyway, what buyer would complain?

Japanese sellers did mostly all have free post to here (even larger items like game console bundles) for a long time but recently that has changed, from what I understand it's a Japanese postal service thing. It still isn't ridiculously expensive like US rates anyway.

Who wants to buy American if it's prohibitive?

Well Disney box sets are pretty nice aren't they? I've been meaning to pick up the Toy Story one myself. The Lion King laserdisc is also the only way to see the original theatrical version.

Interesting. So is that using NZ Post rates from outside NZ?
I've never paid any custom fees for parcels, and only paid GST for ebay purchases because it's part of the checkout process.

Basically the last government set up a warehouse in merica and Europe.
You have the seller send it there and when it receives it give you a fast post option or slow post which is quite cheap but sometimes have to wait up to a week longer.

sounds like ausposts US forwarding service, can't remember the name. Since the AUDs been in the toilet haven't ordered much from the US, stuck to japan, Cept pretty sure there wasn't a surface option with our service. In the old days used to use Shipitto, but they charge GST now so no more. I avoid ebay and amazon as much as possible now too with their GST charges, stick to small services and shops that aren't caught in the Aus Gov's draconian GST net that is only possible because we like Communist China threaten to block websites if they don't comply. Scary s**t.

Anyway now the yen is surging too aussies are f***ed every which way.

There seem to be plenty of copies of the Dances with Wolves box set (Limited Collector's edition) about for dirt cheap. Lots of cool stuff inside, and I dig the leathery brown texture of the box itself.

Totally unfamiliar to me but Landlock caught my on eBay recently.
Landlock: Part 1 (1996) [AML-0024] and Landlock: Part 2 [AML-0035].
Very attractive covers and box.
