I decided that if Hollywood won't give us an ultimate edition of The Thing, I may as well make my own.  http://thecoter.ie/2020/04/01/making-a-diy-ultimate-edition-version-of-the-thing/ I'd still like to get the Signature Collection Laserdisc though!

That's cool, and it's not SECAM!  I picked up the Signature Collection LD a couple of months back. It's the USA version though not the Japan version. I think the two differ slightly, I'd need to re-check. The main thing is though the uncensored commentary is right there on the USA disc so I'm happy out on a personal level.
